Allamanda Meeting Business, Meeting Oct. 24,2017 Meeting called to order at 1:00 p.m.by Melanie Konopka president Meeting Minutes: There were no corrections to September minutes. October minutes will be sent to members via e-mail and will be available upon request. Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer, Nancy Wilcox gave the report. See Nancy if you want to see the report. Nancy told us that when reporting that we have made a charity donation we need to give a contact name and address as the IRS requires it. She gives the information to the guild when we have made donations but she would like to have a representative from Allamanda that would be willing to collect the information. Membership Report: Jo Loder gave the report. At the present we have 83 members. Programs Melanie gave the report for Pat Pipa, as she fractured her leg. Melanie gave a report on up coming classes. All information for classes are posted on the Guild website: QGOTV.ORG. Once in this website, at USER NAME prompt, type your e-mail address. Under PASSWORD prompt, type your last name in lower case letters. The next guild meeting is November 7 at Laurel Manor at 7PM and Cheryl Sleboda will be presenting “Working Weekly-Staying Inspired”. December meeting is December 5, Laurel Manor and Heather Kojan is presenting “UFO’s, Orphan Blocks and What was I thinking??? and it is the Holiday Cookie Party. Each Chapter will provide 2 dozen cookies. Cathy Barlow will provide the 2 dozen cookies. January 2, Guild Meeting will be at 2pm at the Savannah Center – Anniversary Party and Chapter Showcase. Each chapter will have an 8’ table to showcase their projects. Pattie Barrett will showcase our 4 -H Group along with help from other Allamanda members. A new Chapter is starting up at Moyer Loop and it will be Tuesday mornings from 9-11am. Sign up 10/31 and 11/7 and first Chapter meeting is November 14,2017. SERVICE COMMITTEE: Pattie Barrett reported for the 4-H group we sponsor. Their next meeting is November 18, at the Wildwood Methodist Church. Please sign up to help. Kris Loeffler will teach “Making a Wish Basket”. On November 11th the 4-H Group will be at Brownwood at a Booth. See Pattie for more information and if you would be willing to help. They will be displaying projects etc. Each 4-H person has to pay a $20. Fee to 4-H Headquarters which covers insurance etc. Some of our students can’t afford it. A motion was made by Jo Loder and seconded by Sharon Musch that the
Allamanda Chapter would sponsor those that can’t afford it. Volunteers are not required to pay a fee but do need to register. Old Business:
Market Place Update: Lois Rose reported that she still needs volunteers for Saturday at Market Place and you need to sign up for training. She has a sign up sheet on the table and she is sending out an email so that you can sign up. Sunshine Cards: Let Linda Marshall know if someone is in need of a card. Email
[email protected] Market Place: Faye McCarrell gave the report. Rules and the Categories are same as last year. She has the specific information if you need it. See her and she will give you a copy. She also has the information on Registration and Entry rules. The Challenge Quilt theme is “Quilting Through Time. The total of all four sides can be 144 inches or less. Venders will be at both locations. We are responsible for Demos. HOLIDAY PARTY: BJ gave the report and the party is January 9, 2018 at 12:30 PM at Allamanda. Oakwood is doing the catering and the cost is $17.00. See her to pay for your ticket. She also had some pictures from last year’s retreat that she wanted the person in the picture to sign as she is our Historian and wants them for our book. RETREAT: Diana Szymaszek reported that we had 4 people on the waiting list but because of cancellations they are now able to go to the retreat in March 2018. We have one person looking for a roommate. Final payment is due on December 12,2017. Please give Diana a picture from your early years (not a baby picture) as she is preparing a guessing game for the retreat and there will be 3 Prizes. We will also have a couple of vendors coming. Cathy Barlow mentioned that there is a retreat held at The Lake Yale center the first week of October 2018 (10/01 to 10/04) and that 7 of our group went this past October and if you are interested send her and e-mail and she will get you in touch with the person to contact. A bus trip to AQS show in Daytona on March 1,2018 for $35.00. Deadline for payments is January 20,2018. You can sign up on the QGOTV Website. QGOTV has 54 quilts in the show. Look under classes on the website.
NEW BUSINESS: November election for the Guild will be by absentee voting as well as at your Chapter meeting. Melanie will send a copy of the scanned ballot to the membership. Anyone wanting to vote absentee can do so by printing the ballot, voting, placing the ballot into an envelope, seal envelope and sign the back. Then place that envelope into another envelope and send to Allamanda Election Committee representative. Running for President of QGOTV is Teresa Ierardi and for Treasurer is our member, Claudia Mielinski. Honor Flights needs 25 Quilts by March 2018 for the April 8 th flight.
