ALLAMANDA MEETING BUSINESS MINUTES – JANUARY 24,2017 Meeting called to order at 1:00 p.m. by Melanie Konopka Meeting Minutes: No corrections to December minutes. January minutes will be sent to members via e-mail and will be available upon request. Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Nancy Wilcox gave the treasurer’s report. Balance on hand is $8,939.17. If you are interested in seeing the report, please see Nancy. If you need a reimbursement check, please see Nancy. Membership Report: Jo Loder gave the report. Our newest member is Linda List and she is from MD. We currently have 89 members and we have room for one more. Jo has contacted the next person on the waiting list. An updated roster will be e-mailed as an attachment with the January minutes. Please look at the roster and check to make sure all your information is correct. [email protected] Programs: Pat Pippa gave the report. All information for classes are posted on the Guild website: QGOTV.ORG. Once in this website, at USER NAME prompt, type your e-mail address. Under PASSWORD prompt, type your last name in lower case letters. You can pay for the classes in the website by paying with PAYPAL or a credit card. If a class is cancelled you will be refunded all but .50 cents. A beginning quilters class will be held starting February 14 th and you can sign up at the February Quilt Guild Meeting. The VHA Hoe Down is February 18th at the Polo Fields from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Allamanda has contributed a quilt for the affair. Barbara Dunn reported on in house classes. Checks for these classes should be made out to the instructors. She will send out an e-mail with details on classes and cost. SERVICE COMMITTEE: Pattie reported for the 4-H group we sponsor. They donated 15 Raggedy Ann Quilts to the Infant Toddler Pantry and the group is making 40 travel pillows for the Honor Flight on March 29th. The group has been invited to meet with the group on March 12th at 2 p.m. to present them to the veterans. If anyone has some polyfill they don’t need the group could use it to stuff the travel pillows. LOGO SHIRTS: Go to the website: QGOTV.ORG. and there is a box for logo shirts. You can order them from there. The white shirts are $15.oo and colored a couple of dollars more. Old BUSINESS: ALEX ANDERSON:
Melanie Konopka gave out tickets to all members for a $10.00 discount for “Presents Alex Anderson” program on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 9:15 am at New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages. Doors open at 8:30am.
RETREAT: Cathy Barlow reported 39 people are going and we can take 1 more if anyone is interested. We will have a vendor, a massage therapist and a work shop in addition to every quilte’rs own project. The dates are March 6,7,8, and 9th 2017. MARKET PLACE: Cathy Barlow also reported on it. The dates are January 19 and 20, 2018 and will be at the Rowan Center. There will probably be 50 venders and admission is free for members and $5. for others attending. SHOW CASE: Nancy Wilcox reported on it. She could use a few more volunteers. Ramona Cobb who is helping Nancy is looking for volunteers for Saturday. It starts Friday, January 27 and ends Saturday, January 28. We will be showing around 310 quilts and will have 21 venders. Antique Quilts will be on display and presentations about them plus demos. Our 4-H girls will be displaying their quilts in the lobby of the Savannah Center. Parking maybe a problem at the Savannah Center. Parking will be available at the Saddlebrook Complex on Friday and Saturday. A shuttle will be running on Friday only. You are too drop off your quilts on Thursday morning between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.. QUILTERS BAGS: Mary Kahlow has Quilters bags on sale for $15.00 if you are interested please see her. BUS TRIP: Susan Smith is taking reservation for a bus trip to the Daytona Quilt show on March 1 st. The cost is $29.00 and includes the bus and admission to the show. NEW BUSINESS: Two volunteers are needed to go to a training for the Guild Website. Lois Rose and Joan Keltner volunteered. BJ told us that Nancy Wilcox will teach a class on making a Bento Box at one of our meetings in February. Nancy will do it at our meeting on February 7th. You can use a Jelly Roll. Nancy will send out a message before the meeting to let us know what to bring to make the Bento Box. It was announced that Janet Flick a former President of the Quilting Guild passed away.
