MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: PLA YANG On the job Hello, my name is Pla Yang. I’ve been working in the administrative field for over 20 years, starting my career off by working a co-op position at the Appleton PD during my senior year. That was it, I was hooked. I’ve worked at an insurance office, a bank, an adoption agency, and have been with Outagamie County for 11 years. First as a receptionist in the Child Support office, then transferring to the Airport and have been there for the last 6 years as Customer/Administrative Support Specialist. I enjoy the many aspects of my job, from doing the typical receptionist duties to social media, assisting with coordinating media events, press releases, invoicing, security training, background checks, and coordinate advertising within the airport. With the many different facets of my job, I find that I am never bored and enjoy all the challenges that it entails. Chapter Role I joined the Fox Cities Chapter of IAAP in March, 2013. After attending a meeting, I was very interested and impressed with the vision of what IAAP and the chapter represented. My decision to join was a very easy one. I intend to utilize all the opportunities that IAAP has to offer to help me grow, both personally and professionally. Beyond IAAP My husband, Shia, and I have 3 kids, who are 17, 15 and 11 years old. As the kids get older, I realized that I have extra time to spend doing things that gives me enrichment. I volunteer my time by helping Old Glory Honor Flight to coordinate volunteers and military assistance, mail call assembly and organizing the welcome home. I am also involved with the Outagamie County Historical Society as a board member. This opportunity gives me the chance to support a worthy cause and to help preserve our area’s history. My involvement with the many organizations in the community and our church keeps me busy and always on the go.
