Only 2 weeks to go now until our Christmas Bazaar! Please return any Father Christmas forms, raffle ticket money and sweet bags to the school office. You can also start bringing in donations of toys/books/raffle prizes from next week. We will be holding our stall holders meeting next Friday 25 November at 2pm in school. [email protected] Thank you. BOOK FAIR: A reminder that our Book Fair continues after school in the library up until next Tuesday, 22 November. This is a very worthwhile venture as the school library will be entitled to a 40-60% commission in free books. Thank you to all those who have made purchases this week. If a book you wanted has been ‘sold out’ please speak to Mrs Dembinski who can re-order it for you in time for Christmas. Purchases can also be made on-line www.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books which we know will be helpful for parents who are unable to come in at the end of the school day. REMINDER: With the arrival of cold weather, please ensure your child comes to school with a warm coat (with their names inside) and jogging bottoms to wear over their PE shorts for games outside. Thank you. ACADEMIES: The story so far………… Many of you will no doubt be aware that St Philip Howard has agreed to become an Academy and have started the process of conversion. Our Bishop has made it clear that any Catholic school wishing to convert would join their Deanery MAT (Multi Academy Trust). As a school we have been part of all these discussions within the Cathedral and Worthing Deanery. There is a lot of uncertainty ahead for schools, in particular with the huge pressures on finance and budgets (as a result of the Worthless campaign I am sure you are all aware of this). So far, within the 2 Deaneries we have agreed the new name for the MAT - The Bosco Academy Trust. We have agreed a Mission Statement and Vision; the constitution of the MAT board and the Scheme of Delegation. We have also taken advice from the first MAT within our Diocese, the Xavier Trust. As a Governing Body, we are watching closely the progress of the other MAT groups and we will need to carefully consider our reasons why we may wish to proceed or not. Once a decision has been made, we will be consulting with all of our stakeholders. AND FINALLY……. Punctuality: a reminder that children arriving after 9.00 am, after the class register has been taken, are recorded as ‘unauthorised absences’. West Sussex County Council will issue A Fixed Penalty Notice for persistent offenders, the cost of which is currently £60 per child, per parent. Congratulations to our Year 6/Maple Class who have the best attendance, so far, this term! Have a good weekend,
Mrs Hunn & Mrs Hogan Headteacher – Acting Headteacher
