A huge well done to our Year 6 children who have worked so hard on their tests this week. You really are a credit to the school as determined individuals who have shown resilience, determination and great attitudes to be ‘The Best You Can Be’. We finally launched our new website after lots of hard work. There is lots to find out on the site and over the coming weeks you will see more and more features to it. Please come and chat to us about the website to share your views and offer suggestions of further areas we could add to the website. We will be using facebook much more to inform you of latest news and information happening in school. The aim of using these two online features is to add more information which is ‘live’ to the school. The Balby Broadcaster will be used in a slightly different way in the coming weeks as we evolve. Each week we ask parents their views … please remember the question is displayed in the entrance all week following parent view morning each Tuesday. If you would like to add your view, please use one of the counters to vote. This is important to school to get an overview of parent ideas. Next week Mrs Knight will be requesting ideas for questions which are important to you.

Greggs provide us with a wonderful club for our children to enjoy a nutritious breakfast each morning it also provides a warm atmosphere for our children to socialise and interact with their peers. For Breakfast club to run we need volunteers, lots of them! Can you spare a few hours each morning or perhaps you know friends or family who can help? Without volunteers this fantastic club can’t run, please enquire at the school office.

Voluntary contribution After a recent comment left in our school letter box I would like to clarify our school charging policy for school trips and extra activities. The policy is based on legislation set by the government that states no child should be excluded from an activity simply because his or her parents are unwilling or unable to pay. It also states that if we do not receive the voluntary contributions needed to fund a visit, or the school cannot fund it from another source, then it must be cancelled. Balby Central funds a significant amount of money towards the coach, entrance fee and insurance of every school trip. Parental contribution is vital if we are to continue with these fantastic activities. Full details are included in our charging policy available on our school website.
Mrs Lakin will be walking 26 miles on Saturday night when they take part in the MoonWalk London. She will set off through the streets of London at midnight to raise money for cancer. We will update you next week with how she has got on!
