All camps are open to grades 6–12. Age groups and skill levels will be separated to optimize the experience. Each camp is limited to the first 48 campers.

Hitting Camps 1 & 2 Hone your swing mechanics. Drills and learning cues will improve understanding of the most important aspects of hitting (stance, load, stride, timing, swing path and contact points). Age groups and skill levels will be separated to optimize the experience. All participants will practice a variety of swings at different instructional stations. Campers must provide their own bats.
Pitching Camps 1 & 2 Refine and develop your pitching skills. Develop repeatable throwing mechanics through a series of drills and simulated bullpen sessions. Receive specific instruction on the pitching sequence as well as pitch grips, arm care and strengthening, and holding runners/ pickoff moves. Age groups and skill levels will be separated to optimize the experience.
Catching Camp Develop the skills necessary to become a standout catcher. Receive instruction on framing, blocking, throws, fielding bunts and calling pitches. Age groups and skill levels will be separated to optimize the experience. Campers will need to bring their own catching gear.
Camp Staff Stein Rear is entering his first season as head coach at Carroll. He joins the Pioneers following a three-year stint as head coach at Northland College, an NCAA Division III member in Ashland, Wis., that competes in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). While at Northland, Rear increased the roster from 11 to 26 players, guided the Lumberjacks to their most successful season since 2006 (15-14 in 2013), and sent them twice to the league’s post-season tournament as the No. 4 seed. Rear was an assistant coach for the University of WisconsinWhitewater from 2006-2009. During his tenure, the Warhawks were 169-66, they won four WIAC championships, appeared in three NCAA regionals and advanced to the College World Series in 2008. He coached eight players who went on to sign professional baseball contracts. Rear also served as the head coach at his high school alma mater, New Glarus (Wis.), for five seasons.
During his playing career, Rear was a catcher at UW-Whitewater where he received his undergraduate degree in physical education, as well as his master’s degree in physical education and coaching. Coach Rear and wife Sara have three children, Bryn, 5, Adalyn, 4 and Ivan, 10 months old. Matt Buhrow enters his second season as a pitching coach for the Carroll University Pioneers. Brandon Egnarski begins his first year as a catching and hitting coach of the Carroll University Pioneers. Nick Nook joins the Carroll University coaching staff for the 2014 season and works closely with the Pioneers’ defense and hitting. Ben Versnik enters his first season as a pitching coach of the Carroll University Pioneers.
