Wesley’s Elizsha Streeter Selected As CAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Top Athlete YORK, Pa. - Wesley College sophomore Elizsha Streeter, the 2014 CAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year, won two individual gold medals and added a third as part of a championship relay on the way to being selected by the conference coaches as the 2015 Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year. It’s the second-straight year a Wolverine sprinter captured the Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year award, following in the footsteps of former teammate and 2014 co-winner Kiona Mency. Streeter’s winning performances in the 200 and 400 dashes and as a member of the 4x400 relay helped Wesley capture a school-record five gold medals at the 2015 CAC Indoor Championships, held Feb. 21 at Christopher Newport University. Streeter finished second in the 200 and 400 in last year’s championship. Wolverine freshmen Alexia Mitchell won the 60-meter dash and classmate Ashley Morris took top honors in the 60 hurdles. Mary Washington, led by 2015 CAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year Rachel Lewis, shared top honors with Salisbury for the most individual gold and silver medal winners at the championship - each with four gold medalists and three silver medalists. Lewis, who won the mile run and finished second in the 800, is the first UMW athlete to win the Women’s Indoor Track & field Rookie of the Year award since the championship was added by the CAC Board of Directors in 2012. Teammates Claire Harrington and Natalie Young joined Lewis on the list of gold medalists at the championship meet. Harrington earned All-CAC recognition in the pole vault for the fourth-straight year - the first four-year all-star in the history of the championship. Young, a two-time indoor all-star in 2014, was a double winner at the championship, crossing the finish line first in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs. Christopher Newport and Salisbury, which battled for the team title before the Captains emerged on top for the second-straight year, shared the 2015 CAC Coach of the Year award. CNU’s Tyler Wingard and Sea Gulls’ mentor Jim Jones were co-winners in the vote of the CAC coaches. Wingard won the award for the first time while Jones also won the award in 2012, the first year of the indoor championship. Salisbury saw sophomore Paige DeMent collect two of the team’s four first-place awards in the shot put and weight throw. Also on the championship podium for the Sea Gulls was sophomore high jumper Meghan McGowan, a second-team all-star in 2014, along with freshman triple jumper Christine Randall. CNU sophomore Briana Stewart, in her first season on the track & field team after two all-star seasons for the nationally-ranked Captains volleyball squad, claimed the gold medal in the 800-meter run and as a member of the distance medley relay. She was joined on the All-CAC team by senior Enuma Ezenwa, the 2014 CAC Co-Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year who finished second in the 2015 high jump for the second-straight season and anchored the silver medal 4x400 relay team. Frostburg State landed the final first-team All-CAC nod when senior Alexis Bush earned top honors in the long jump for the second time in three years. Bush finished her indoor career as a three-year all-star in the event. Freshman Kayla Truesdel finished second behind Streeter in both the 200 and 400 for the Bobcats. York matched Frostburg State’s four all-star awards, led by three of silver medal finishes by distance standout Jess Miller. The Spartan senior competed individually in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs and anchored YCP’s second-place distance medley relay. Miller finished her indoor career with six individual All-CAC awards while classmate Caroline Delany’s second-place finish in the mile run gave her three career awards in that event.
