All throughout the gospels, Jesus refers to himself as the “Son of Man.” (See Luke 19:10 & Mark 8:31 for examples.) Many people believe Jesus chose this phrase from Daniel 7:13-14. Why is it significant that Jesus chose this title for himself (in other words, what does this title tell us about Jesus)? (Hint: Mark 14:61-62 and Philippians 2:5-11 might add some thoughts to this discussion.)

Why do you think Daniel was so deeply troubled by this vision of the future (Daniel 7:15, 28)? What do you think your response would have been to this vision if you were Daniel? What is your response to the vision with the present-day knowledge you have?

Who are “the holy ones” (or “saints” in some translations) in verses 18, 21-22, and 27 in Daniel chapter 7? Are they angels, Israel, or the church? What implication does this answer have? Lastly, what is promised to these saints?

Bob opened his message on Sunday with Dr. J. Vernon McGee’s quote, “Prophecy is the mold into which history is poured.” What thoughts, reactions, and/or questions does this quote raise within you?

Who is the “Ancient of Days” in Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14, 22? (Use other Scripture to support your answer.) What images are brought to mind by the title “Ancient of Days”? How is the Ancient of Days described in these verses?

Memory Verse: So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. (2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT)

Living Out My next step today is to:  A Trust God when it doesn’t look good  B Submit to God and He will take care of you  C 9.

Focus on the heavenly scene

In Daniel 7:21-22, the “saints” (or “holy ones”) are being defeated by the menacing “horn” of the fourth beast until the Ancient of Days appears. Perhaps you find yourself facing difficult circumstances this week, feeling like your situation, sin, superiors, Satan, or something else is defeating you. How are you to respond? (Hint: In addition to Daniel 7, James 4:7-10 and 1 Peter 5:6-10 give great insight in answering this question.)

Daniel #10

God’s Plan for the Nations Daniel 7:1-28 "Prophecy is the mold into which history is poured." ~ J. Vernon McGee The Lord is _______________________. (Daniel 7:1-14)  Daniel has a vision of four beasts on the earth. (Daniel 7:1-8)

 Daniel has a vision of the heavenly courtroom. (Daniel 7: 9-14)

Our sovereign Lord will __________________ His kingdom. (Daniel 7:15-28)  The four beasts are four ____________________ that will rule the earth, but a fifth kingdom will be established which supersedes all others – the kingdom of God. (Daniel 7:15-16)

Looking Up Suggested idea for your group prayer time: Ephesians 1:18-22 shows the spiritual fulfillment of the prophecy of Daniel 7:1314, and 27. As you move into a time of prayer, read the Ephesians 1 passage, then thank God for what He has done and is doing in your life and in history. Then pray through the requests of your group.
