When Kingdoms Clash Matthew 6:19-23

Main Idea: Who rules my heart makes or breaks my marriage.
2. What happened in the last week for which you are thankful?
God is to rule my heart. (Mathew 6:19-24)
3. What did you hear in the sermon that was surprising, challenging, troubling, or useful? Explain.
Value the kingdom of God more than the kingdom of self. (Matthew 6:19-20)
The kingdom you value most will control your heart. (Matthew 6:21-23)
4. Read Matthew 6:19-24 aloud (in two different versions if possible). a. What did you like about the passage? What questions do you have about it?
b. What does this passage tell you about God?
You can only have one kingdom ruling in your heart. (Matthew 6:24)
Don’t allow me to rule my heart. (Matthew 6:25-30)
Pursue God’s rule in my heart. (Matthew 6:31-33)

5. Read Matthew 6:25-33 aloud (in two different versions if possible). a. These verses are traditionally (and appropriately so) applied to money. What is their connection to relationships?
b. In what part of your marriage or other relationships is it difficult to seek God’s kingdom rule?
