11/12/14 Ryan Spaulding U15/16 Capital Area RailHawks Team Member
Ryan started playing at the age of 5 in Connecticut and when he moved to NC in 2007, Ryan started with a recreation league. After playing a season of indoor, he was introduced to Classic Soccer at TUSA- and played U12 and U13 Classic at TUSA. After a year as Captain for the U14 Gold Boys, Ryan moved to CASL’s U15 Elite Black team under Jeff Negalha where he played for the Fall Season before moving to the U16 Academy under Carlos Somoano. Ryan played in ODP for three years- 2011, 2012, and 2013 – All three years making the Regional Camp in Alabama. He was invited to play in an ODP Pool game in 2013. It was when Ryan moved to U12/U13 Classic soccer that he began developing the foundation for the intensity around elite soccer. Jeff Negalha was pivotal in helping him raise his technical skills, soccer IQ, and drive to continue developing as a player and strive for his goals of D1 and Professional Soccer. The biggest highlight in Ryan’s soccer career thus far has been moving up to the Capital Area RailHawks U16 Academy Team after a fall season with U15 Elite Black- January 2014. “The level of coaching, playing and team dynamic is exceptional and demanding,” says Ryan. Some additional highlights for Ryan include winning the Disney Showcase as part of the U15 Elite Black team in December 2013, having scored the hat trick in the final game to win 3-0. He was also invited to play in the All-Star Game at the University of Maryland ID Camp, Summer 2014. He had the opportunity to travel to Brazil in the spring of 2014 with the Academy Teams and play with Desportivo (São Paulo) and Fluminense, (Rio de Janeiro). Ryan’s short term goals include significantly impacting the U16 Academy reaching the Nationals in 2014. He would like to be called up to a National Team Event before the U16 Academy season ends. In addition, he is looking to commit to a D1 school. Longer term Ryan would like to be an impact player on a D1 Team, and ultimately earn a spot on an MLS or European League Professional Team. “It is an honor to be a part of the Capital Area RailHawks Academy and to be able to train under and with the excellent coaching staff and players. It is good to share a common drive to be the best team possible and to win Nationals as a U16 Academy,” says Spaulding. A constant objective for Ryan is to be a positive impact player on the field and off. He does not take this position for granted and continually strives to improve his physical and mental strength and technical skills. He greatly enjoys the experiences he continues to have on the Capital Area RailHawks Academy. Best of luck to Ryan this year and the U15/16 Capital Area RailHawks Academy Team.
