Step 1 — Power cord



Tip the fan to its side and remove the three size 8 screws using a 9/32 flat-head screwdriver.

 The screws may be brittle from age, so be careful. 

Take the bottom plate off the fan and set it aside.

Remove the three number 8 screws that hold the switch in place.

Step 3 

Remove the switch, carefully sliding the speed lever out of its slot.

 Don't remove the switch too quickly or you can damage the head-wire.

Once the switch is free, unscrew the two knurled nuts holding the wires in place.

Step 5 

Turn the switch over and unscrew the nut securing the wire with the 5/16 crescent wrench.



Remove the switch and set it aside, then pull the wire through the grommet.

Step 6
