During the ‘08-’09 season, the SPU Falcons earned another trip to the NCAA Western Regional Tournament. This was the 13th time in the past 16 years that the Falcons had qualified for post season play. The Falcons finished up the season with a record of 19-8. Over the past Five years, the Falcons, have won more conference games than any other school in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, winning 61 games. Two separate weeks of day camp will be held at Royal Brougham Pavilion, SPU’s premier athletic facility, on July 12-15 and July 19-22, 2010. The Falcons’ staff has put together an outstanding day camp designed for boys entering third through tenth grades. In addition to daily games and drills, you’ll learn:

WHAT TO BRING
FALCON HEAD COACH
Falcon Boys Basketball Camps are designed for elementary, junior high, and senior high boys who want to learn individual and team skills of basketball in a positive environment. Activities include personal instruction by SPU coaches and players, along with opportunities for daily team play.
Campers should bring (or wear) the following: basketball, shoes, sweat socks, gym shorts and t-shirts. Campers need to provide their own lunch or bring money to purchase lunch each day. There will also be a camp store that campers can purchase snacks at throughout the week. The store will also provide a bank for campers during the week.
Ryan Looney, who led Eastern Oregon University to the quarterfinals of the 2009 NAIA Division II Tournament, was hired May 26, 2009 as the coach at Seattle Pacific. He won his opening nine games on the SPU sidelines, the first coach to win more than his first three for the Falcons. Looney, 34, has a 115-58 (.665) career record and won his 100th game on Dec. 4 against Carroll College. He is the first coach to direct SPU into the playoffs in his inaugural season. Looney compiled a 95-55 record in five seasons with Eastern Oregon and directed EOU to back-to-back NAIA Tournament appearances in 2008 and 2009. Looney is an energetic, organized, knowledgeable coach with a wealth of experience in youth coaching as the former director of the acclaimed camps at Eastern Oregon.
CAMP DATES/TIME Falcon Boys Basketball Camps run Monday through Thursday, July 12-15 and July 19-22. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
CAMP STAFF The camp will be directed by current SPU coaches and players, former SPU players, and area college basketball players.

Grant Leep is in his first season as the top assistant coach on the Seattle Pacific coaching staff. The former standout player at the University of Washington and Mount Vernon (Wash.) High School spent the previous four years as an assistant coach at Eastern Washington. While at Eastern Washington, Leep assisted with the Rodney Stuckey summer basketball camps. He also directed youth basketball camps at North Seattle Community College in 2003.
Cost for the week is $225 (includes Falcon t-shirt and basketball) per athlete. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required for registration, with the remainder due at or before check-in.
