Page 7 FOUR RECORDS FALL IN SEASON-OPENER: • Metro State broke four school records at the Air Force Holiday Open on Dec. 13. • Freshman Haley Moreland broke the women’s 300m record in 43.83 (previous 55.90). • Freshman Sarah Johns broke the women’s 500m record in 1:23.96 (previous was 1:25.24). • Jon Clarke broke the men’s 300m record in 34.69 (previous was 35.90). • Phil Hill Jr. broke the men’s 500m record in 1:05.60 (previous was 1:06.54). • Clarke also won his heat in a field of 32 runners. HARVEY QUALIFIES IN SEASON-OPENER: • Kirk Harvey ran a provisional qualifying time in the season-opening Air Force Holiday Open on Dec. 13 in the 3k. • Harvey won the race in 8:43.24, converting to 8:26.43 for altitude and track size. • His time is currently the fastest in the 3k in NCAA Division II this season. RECORD-BREAKING SEASON: • Metro State saw 19 school records fall during the 2012-13 indoor season. • Breanna Hemming broke the women’s mile record twice, with her best time of 4:56.55 coming on Feb. 2 at the New Mexico Classic. • Janelle Lincks broke the women’s 3k record twice, running 10:12.97 at the RMAC championships for her best time. • The distance medley relay team of Lincks, Belle Kiper, Jamilah Rashid and Hemming broke the record three times, placing 10th at the NCAA championships in 11:55.56. • Jon Clarke broke the men’s 60m record twice, with his best time just .01 seconds ahead of his first record at 6.93 seconds on Feb. 9.

METRO STATE HISTORY: • Metro State is in its eighth year with a Division II track program. • By only fielding track athletes and no field athletes, Metro State usually finishes towards the bottom of the RMAC with its highest finish coming in 2008 when the team placed sixth at the RMAC Championships. • However, the limit on athletes has not hampered the team’s competitiveness on a national level, as the team has sent at least one runner to nationals five of the past six years. • Metro State placed 10th at the NCAA Championships in 2009, highlighted by Anthony Luna’s individual championship in the 800 meters. He is currently Metro State’s only national champion. • In 2010, Shawn Lindbom placed second in the 800 and was joined by two other All-Americans when Brandon Johnson and Carl Arnold III both finished in the top eight in the mile. • Metro State has consistently had a strong men’s distance medley relay team, qualifying for nationals in 2009 and 2010, and winning the RMAC championship in 2011, despite not qualifying for nationals. • Altogether, Metro State has had 14 runners named All-America in indoor track in the program’s first seven years. • The women’s team is also in its eighth season. It is had several runners that have been very competitive at the conference level. • Last season, the distance medley relay team of Janelle Lincks, Belle Kiper, Jamilah Rashid and Breanna Hemming became the first national qualifiers in school history.
