2013 Mast Shiraz Winemaking note In recognition of Trevor Mast’s role in establishing the reputation of Mount Langi Ghiran and as a tribute to the man himself we created the Mast Shiraz. Every year we will select that parcel of fruit which we think best respects Trevor’s legacy. In 2013, there were no surprises when one of our most consistently high performing blocks, House Block 4, delivered the goods again. This block was one that Trevor saw immense potential in. Meticulous attention was made when hand picking this block, ensuring only the best fruit was delivered to the winery. This wine includes a considerable amount of whole bunch maceration which provides exceptional perfume, spice and delicate tannins. The 2013 Mast Shiraz shows all the classic ‘Langi’ hallmarks, it displays an inky black core with spices of liquorice and clove intertwined throughout the layers. Rich, dark plum fruits are laced with spicy pepper, carried seamlessly across the palate by tannins so well integrated, that they form the framework of this wine.
