Jacob Wetterling was abduced near his home in St. Joseph in Oct. 1989 and after almost 27 years, authorities received a confession closing the case last week. The Wetterling Family and the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center are encouraging people who want to honor Jacob to wear the number 11, Jacob’s number in multiple sports. • SCSU and Minnesota State will also be playing for the Traveling Training Kit - one of the most bizarre college football rivalry trophies. The trophy features the MSU logo on a purple background on one side and the St. Cloud State logo on a red background on the other side. SCSU COACH SCOTT UNDERWOOD: Scott Underwood is in his ninth season as the head coach at St. Cloud State in 2016. Underwood is the 12th head football coach in the history of Husky football. Prior to being named the St. Cloud State head coach, Underwood had been the defensive coordinator for the Huskies since 2001. In nine seasons at the helm of the Husky football program, Underwood has compiled a 65-31 overall record. His win total is the second-most all-time at SCSU. He has placed SCSU among the nation’s elite NCAA Division II programs with NCAA tournament appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2013.

The Huskies earned the program’s first win of the season last weekend on the road in a thrilling 27-20 victory over Upper Iowa (9/10). • Of SCSU’s five losses last season, four came by one score. • The SCSU program was able to score at least 20 points in all 11 games a year ago and also topped 30 points in five contests • The team captains for the Huskies in 2016 are Nate Meyer, Jaden Huff, Jameson Parsons, Brady Westart and Mitch Knutson. • The Scott Underwood Show is on the air regularly on Mondays during the football season at 7 p.m. on 1390 The Fan. touchdowns in a season. His consecutive seasons of over 2,000 yards passing the last two years made him just the sixth quarterback in school history to accomplish the feat in back-to-back seasons. The team also returns leading receiver Jameson Parsons, who caught 61 passes for 1,272 and nine touchdowns as a junior. Parsons became just the fifth receiver in the school record books with a 1,000 yard receving season as a junior. The squad leading returning rusher is Jaden Huff, who ran for 741 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore. On defense, linebacker Brady Westart paced the team with his 79 tackles and racked up 10.5 stops for loss plus 7.5 sacks. Adam Josephson was steady on defense with his 71 tackles with fellow linebacker Craig Szymanski tallying a team-high 12 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. In 2015, SCSU charted 2,361 yards on the ground, while limiting opponents to 1,594 yards. In the air, SCSU gained 2,880 yards passing (194-318-12) and allowed 2,570 yards (202-350-9). The Huskies were able to outscore their opponents by a 389-255 margin including 238-113 in the second and fourth quarters. The team brings back a total of 13 starters (six offense and seven defense) this season along with a total of 29 letterwinners, plus adds in 39 newcomers to the mix.

Running back Curtwan Evans and quarterback Nate Meyer each had one 100-yard game. Running back Jaden Huff topped 100 yards twice and running back Ledell White totaled three games of over 100 yards rushing. Three SCSU players recorded 100-yard receving games. Wide receiver Matt Hentges had one, tight end Grant Thayer recorded two and wide receiver Jameson Parsons had seven 100 yard games.
