2017 Skyline Conference Men’s Volleyball Team Announced FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEW YORK – The Skyline Conference has announced its 2017 men’s volleyball all-conference teams, and Kean University junior outside hitter, Jacob Kauffman has been tabbed as Player of the Year in voting conducted by the conference’s 10 head coaches. The coaches also selected St. Joseph’s College-Long Island freshman middle blocker Kyle Biggers as Rookie of the Year, and Bill Kropp as Coach of the Year. Kauffman (York, Pa.) led the Cougars to the 2017 Skyline Conference title, and put down 2.99 kills per set over 79 sets played. He scored 3.85 points per set, including a 0.68 service aces average that tops the Skyline. Biggers (Holbrook, N.Y.) topped the Skyline leaderboard as a freshman with a .469 hitting percentage (232 k, 51 e, 386 attacks). His 0.55 total blocks per set ranked ninth, and included a conference second-best 19 solo efforts. Kropp guided the Golden Eagles to a 19-11 record in their inaugural campaign, including a 6-3 mark in Skyline play that was good for the No. 4 seed and semifinals appearance in last week’s Skyline Conference Championship. Kropp came to the Patchogue, N.Y. institution with 35 years of coaching experience at the high school and club volleyball levels. Joining Biggers and Kauffman on the all-conference first-team are: Kevin Carges of SUNY Purchase College; Tyler Cucullu of College of Mount Saint Vincent; Justin Feigeles of Ramapo College; Ryan Guyton of The Sage Colleges; David Penaherrera of New Jersey City University; and Jared Warner of Kean. The all-conference second-team consists of: Nick Amos of Ramapo; Bailey Cecchi and Casey Fitzpatrick of Sage; Paul Curaro of St. Joseph’s-Long Island; Logan Dickover of Mount Saint Vincent; Julian Moreira of NJCU; and Shayron Taylor and Steven Zarzycki of Kean.
