The Huskies have several individual players that ranked among the NCAA and NSIC leaders in 2017

Missouri State in the NCAA DII playoff during the 2013 season (12/7/13). Meyer started 33 straight games beginning with the Minnesota State contest to start the 2014 season (9/4/14). SCSU is bringing back on defense players that combined to record 600 of the team’s 774 tackles (78 percent), 42 of the 57 tackles for loss (74 percent), 16.5 of the 24 sacks (69 percent) and all 11 of the team’s interceptions from last season. Brady Westart and Grant Lewis are tied for the longest active starting streak at 26 games each. Joe Blando’s 163 yards rushing in the opening game against Southwest Minnesota State (8/31/17) was his first time surpassing the 100-yard mark. Blando’s 163 yards rushing are 42nd most in a single game in school history and makes Blando just the 12th SCSU running back to total more than 160 yards rushing in a game. Blando is just the 28th running back in the school record books to reach 100 yards rushing in a game. Blando’s 38 carries in the game are tied for the second-most in a single game in school history. John Solberg went over the 100-yard threshold in receiving against Southwest Minnesota State with seven catches for 103 yards. Having both 100-yard rusher and receiver in the same game was a first for the program since Jaden Huff and Nate Meyer both ran for over 100 yards and Jameson Parson caught passes for 100 plus yards against Winona State (9/26/15). Carvel Graham picked off a pass and returned the interception for a 42-yard score against SMSU. It was the program’s first interception return for a touchdown since Jack Horter had a 57-yard interception return for a score against MSU Moorhead (10/31/15). Freshman kicker Adam Stage made a pair of field goals, from 38 and 30-yards, plus all five of his extra point against SMSU (8/31) Stage followed up his two field goals made in the first game by knocking in a 24-yard field goal against Winona State (9/9). Stage made two more field goals against Augustana (9/23) including a field goal from 46-yards out. The 46-yard field goal was the longest for the program since Eric Mielke’s 46-yard made field goal against Northern State (10/25/14). The team’s only kick longer than 46 yards in the last 10 years was when Brian Cristan made a 47-yard field goal during the 2007 season. Stage has now made five goals this season. Before this year, the program had a total of four made field goals the last two years combined. Jake Schley totaled two sacks against Winona State and became

the first SCSU defender to record multiple sacks since Brady Westart and Mitch Knutson both sacked the quarterback 2.5 times against Minot State (11/5/16). Schley’s three tackles for loss against Winona State (9/9) are the most an individual has had in a game for SCSU since Bo Putrah registered four tackles for loss against Sioux Falls (9/19/14). Dwayne Lawhorn became just the seventh quarterback to throw four or more touchdowns in a game against Concordia-St. Paul (9/16) {Keith Heckendorf - 12x; Phillip Klaphake - 9x; Nate Meyer - 2x; Mitch Watkins - 2x; Daniel Kazor - 1x; Mike Leivermann - 1x; Dwayne Lawhorn - 1x}. Lawhorn’s four passing touchdowns were the most for an SCSU individual since Nate Meyer had four passing touchdowns against Minnesota Duluth during the 2015 season (10/10/15). Lawhorn also ran for a touchdown to account for five touchdowns in the contest against CSP. His five accounted for touchdowns are the most for the program since Meyer also accounted for five touchdowns against the University of Mary last season (10/8/16) with three passing touchdowns

and a pair of rushing scores. The program also had a pair of receivers reach the 100-yard barrier in the same game for the first time since the 2015 season with Cole Otto catching eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown and John Pass hauling in seven passes for 110 yards and two scores against Concordia-St. Paul. The duo are the first SCSU receivers to get to 100 or more yards receiving since Jameson Parsons (nine catches for 157 yards) and Grant Thayer (five catches for 102 yards and a touchdown) against Bemidji State (10/24/15). It is only the eighth time since 2001 that the program has had a pair of 100 yard receivers in the same game. Justin Czech was pressed into duty and received the start at quarterback against Augustana. He is just the third SCSU signal caller in the last 37 games. The Huskies are 8-2 all-time when John Pass records a touchdown reception in his first three years. Graham Miller led the defense against Augustana with five defense plus an interception return for a touchdown. It was SCSU second interception touchdown this season. The last time SCSU had multiple interception touchdowns in the same season was during the 2013 campaign when Jack Moro and Eric Poggenburg both reached the end zone with an interception. The only other times in the last 15 years when the program has had more than two in a season was during the 2010 season when three interceptions were taken back for scores and during 2009 when the team had four interception touchdowns.

Graham Miller Named NSIC Defensive Player of Week • Linebacker Graham Miller was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 25. • He led the SCSU defense with five tackles, two stops for loss plus an 29-yard interception return for touchdown against Augustana • He is the first SCSU football player to take home a weekly award
