SUMMARY: This position, in conjunction with the Director, is responsible for implementation of the education program for infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children. The Lead Teacher /Trainer ensures that all regulations and mandates for federal, state and local licensing are met, and works collaboratively with other staff and family members to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Maintain Oklahoma Directors Credential, Level 10 on the Professional Development Ladder and maintain a  valid  driver’s  license.       The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must comply with DHS licensing requirements for Early Care workers to include; Background investigation including finger printing, and reference checks. Be knowledgeable of rules and regulations for DHS Child care facilities and attend 30 hours of on-going training per year.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associates of Art (AA) degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred; and  2  years  of  experience  or  working  towards  a  Bachelor’s  degree  (BA/BS)  in  Early   Childhood Education or a related field with a minimum of 9 credit hours specifically related to early childhood education and a total of 60 hours (documented on an official transcript) towards the BA/BS by the date of hire. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent problem solving, planning, and organizational skills. Detail and multi-task orientation with a strong desire to succeed. Must be able to cope well with stress. Ability to work as a cooperative and supportive team member. Establishes and maintains a reflective relationship for learning with the supervisor that is characterized by regularity, clear expectations, mutual sharing and feedback about the challenges and opportunities presented in the day-to day- work. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically interact with other staff and small children, including talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop kneel; crouch or crawl and lift and or move children and items of up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee will work in a classroom environment in close quarters with other staff and small children; some time each day will be spent outside in seasonal weather conditions and on an uneven playground area. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud; frequent chaotic situations will occur, characteristic to working with young children. Employee must expect exposure to strong odors such as soiled diapers and clothes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist in implementing Early Learning Guideline regulations in classrooms. 2. Maintain and assist in maintaining accurate attendance records, CACFP reports, and other record keeping and reports as required. Participate in program training and staff meetings. 3. Attend yearly required training for CACFP and ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner. 4. Understand and enforce all rules, policies, and guidelines of the New Beginnings program, Mid-Del Technology Center and Mid-Del Schools. 5. Assist staff with preparing daily lesson plans utilizing the Early Learning Guidelines. Supervise formal observations and assist in implementation of planned activities based on the observations.

6. Assist staff with tasks required to meet the next DHS STAR level status and /or national accreditation. 7. Coordinate with teachers to prepare and schedule parent teacher conferences. 8. Assist  in  documenting  parent  communication  regarding  children’s  functions  and   activities. 9. Assist in organizing the classroom according to developmental levels and individual needs of the children, including; the development of trust and emotional security; opportunities to explore a variety of sensory and motor experiences; opportunities for the development of self-awareness, autonomy, and self-expression; and opportunities for gross and fine motor development. 10. Assist in ensuring classrooms are homelike, safe, sanitary and free of clutter. 11. Work in a team setting with all staff to determine individual needs of children including children with disabilities or special needs. 12. Consult with appropriate consultants and staff regarding child development concerns for all children including children with disabilities and special needs. 13. Promote the development of secure relationships with children. Relate to children in a calm, caring, nurturing, soothing manner, responding to all cries, babbles, and verbalizations, using appropriate child guidance techniques at all times. 14. Maintain ongoing professional and appropriate communication with parents through a variety of methods. 15. Report to work at scheduled times and maintain good attendance; perform all duties in a timely and professional manner. 16. Continue professional growth by participating in ongoing education, training programs, workshops and conferences in an effort to serve all children including children with disabilities and special needs 17. Participates in the development of program policies, service delivery plans, and ongoing monitoring of program quality. 18. Knowledge of and ability to implement Early Childhood curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 0-4. 19. Ability to effectively communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professional and community groups. 20. Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials. 21. Must be able to remain abreast of the improvements in the field of child development to enhance personal growth and development. 22. Perform other duties assigned and reasonably within the scope of the duties listed above. 23. Coordinate with Early Care teacher to register and transport students for background investigations. 24. Coordinate catered meals daily. 25. All other duties as assigned by supervisors.
