Bonanza Peak, W inter Ascent. On D ecem ber 28 my brother G ordon, M ark Bebie, and I com pleted a w inter climb of Bonanza Peak. W e fol­ lowed the M ary G reen G lacier route to the sum m it on the third of five days out from H olden Village. Fortunately, somewhat consolidated snow allowed safe ski travel to the upper limits of the glacier, where at 8000 feet a snow cave was dug. Taking advantage of clear w eather, we climbed the snow-covered east face to the summ it ridge. The final ropelength of this ice-crusted ridge provided our only belayed climbing. We felt very lucky to have encountered such good conditions during the all too brief vacation allowed by the Christm as holidays. L o w e l l Skoog,
