In an article published on November 20, 2015 by Law360, Doug Gartenlaub provides insight on Florida’s Sport Development Statute, which was signed into law by Florida Governor Rick Scott in June 2014. With the abundance of sports teams based in Florida, this statute offers funding for “the proposed construction, reconstruction, renovation, or improvement of a facility or the proposed acquisition of land to construct a new facility and construction improvements for state-owned land necessary for the efficient use of the facility.” However, a delay in decisions on funding for initial applicants has caused the City of Orlando to pursue other funding options, and newly introduced obstacles for future applicants may motivate other sports entities to follow Orlando’s example. Lee Thuston has been chosen as a 2015 "CEO of the Year" by the Birmingham Business Journal. Thuston is the large business category award recipient. Winners were chosen based on their contributions to their companies and the community. Each category's winner was announced at the CEO Awards event held on December 3, 2015 at Regions Field. Within his real estate practice, Rocky serves his clients through acquisition, finance, leasing, development, operation and disposition for a number of areas including hotels, multifamily developments, resorts, golf courses, country clubs, stadiums, and marinas. He has more than 18 years of commercial mortgage-backed securities loan origin experience.
