27th January 2017 Dear Parent / Carer, Please find enclosed the results of your child’s recent Year 8 exams. The process went really well in terms of the pupil’s experience of sitting examinations and revising key topics. This will stand them in good stead and be valuable preparation for when they move towards their GCSEs. It is important to understand that the exam represents a snapshot of your child's progress to date and that the target is an end of Year 8 target, not necessarily where they should be currently. If you child has scored higher than their target then it is to be celebrated, but remember it is just a snap shot of their performance on the paper they have sat, which has tested the teaching over one term. Equally, if your child has scored below their target, then it is important to remember that it is an end of year Yr8 target and that there is still 6 months of content to be delivered and skills to be developed in each area. On the rare occasion that your child has an X in the test grade column, then they were either absent for an exam or their teacher was not in school over the exam period. Please note that MFL grades are likely to be lower than others because most pupils only started learning languages in Yr7. We look forward to seeing you at Options and Information Evening on the 9th February and again for Parents’ Evening on the 9th March. In the meantime, if you have any questions then please contact the subject teacher directly or your son/daughter’s form teacher. Yours sincerely,

Mr R Eost Deputy Headteacher
