Dear Parents/Carers, As part of the development of our STEM programme of study at Langtree School, the Science, Maths and Technology departments are working together to offer an after school STEM club for students in Year 8 and 9. In this first half term the focus will be on sustainability, with students working on a project based around water consumption or crop growth. At the end of the project we intend to enter the work completed into a national competition run by BP in the hope of winning some STEM prizes for the school. In the first instance this club will run on Tuesdays after school. This club will start running from Tuesday 7th November and will continue until Christmas. The sessions will last from 3.30pm until 4.15pm. We would be delighted to have as many students attend the club as possible as the projects and activities will support topics being covered inside the classroom. Students will also get the chance to develop their team working and communication skills through the creation of their final presentation. If you are happy for your son/daughter to attend please complete the reply slip attached to the letter and return to either Miss Clark or Ms Darkins.
