1. PACK 2. CLEAN 3. CHECK OUT
1. PACK
As soon as possible, start packing boxes and taking things home or to storage! To assist with your packing, moving boxes will be available for purchase at the Canyon Post, Campus Market, and the University Store.
FOOD/CLOTHING DRIVE
University Housing sponsors a food and clothing drive for local non-profit organizations beginning study week and continuing through move out. Feel free to donate items you don’t need (i.e., clothes, food, electronics, small furniture items, etc.) at your building’s drop-off location. There will be posters designating what can and cannot be donated - PLEASE RESPECT THESE GUIDELINES.
DUMPSTERS
PARKING
DO NOT leave trash in stairways, hallways, study lounges, or in common-area trash receptacles throughout the community. Please place all trash in dumpsters and large trash bins.
All standard parking rules apply.
Additional dumpsters will be added throughout University Housing areas. There will also be additional trash pick up for closing.
Temporary 40-minute parking is permitted during finals week in designated areas close to residence halls and apartments. Once you have loaded your car, please be considerate and move your vehicle.
2. CLEAN
Your room should be in the same condition it was in when you moved into it.
There are cleaning supplies available for checkout at your front desk!
Make sure to clean the following areas: Window sills All assigned furniture (put back in original layout) Floors, walls, and ceilings Kitchen, including inside of refrigerator and freezer Trash and recycle bins (empty them!) Remove any decals, tape, tacks, etc.
3. CHECK OUT
There are two checkout options:
1. EXPRESS: For anyone who is NOT the last to move out of their room/apartment; available any time, not just during desk hours. 2. STANDARD: REQUIRED for the last roommate in each room/apartment. Failure to checkout on time or follow procedure will result in an Improper Checkout Fee of $25, in addition to any charges associated with apartment/room damages, cleanliness, lost keys or access cards.
OPTION ONE
OPTION TWO
EXPRESS CHECKOUT
STANDARD CHECKOUT
You may use this option as long as you are NOT the last person checking out of your room/apartment.
Make an appointment with an RA/CA for the exact time you expect to move out. By this appointment time, your room should be completely clean and empty; an RA/CA will meet you at your room to check for any damages.
No appointment is necessary for this option. By selecting to complete an Express Checkout, you agree to be held financially responsible for any necessary cleaning and/or repair of damaged items and/or replacement costs of any missing items, or items damaged beyond normal wear and tear. Any right to contest or appeal cleaning, damage, or replacement charges is waived. Once you have cleaned and emptied your room as required, go to your front desk to: - Return bedroom key(s), access card(s), and any checked out equipment, cleaning supplies, etc.
If you don’t make an appointment or are not ready by your scheduled time, go to the front desk when you are completely ready. We appreciate your patience as you may have to wait until an RA/CA is available. When the RA/CA checks your room, you will sign paperwork and return your bedroom key(s), access card(s), and any equipment or cleaning supplies, etc. You will not be permitted to access your room after checking out. All standard checkouts will occur during desk hours.
- Sign key registration card - If desk is closed: Fill out Express Checkout envelope, put key(s) and access card(s) inside, and submit it via designated box at front desk. Again, by completing an Express Checkout, you waive the right to appeal any damage charges.
ARE YOU LIVING ON CAMPUS THIS
SUMMER?
If you will be living on campus for the summer, you must check out and move out of your room/apartment by your assigned move-out date. There will not be any opportunity to store items on campus over the summer. If you need summer storage, seek off-campus storage or find friends with garage/storage space.
Failure to check out will result in an improper checkout charge of $25 in addition to any damages or keys not returned.
MAIL
Make sure to notify everyone who sends you mail of your new address before you leave! Ask about Change of Address forms at your front desk.
And finally... BIKE
Please remember to take your with you! Locks will be cut and bicycles removed by University Police after finals week. If you have any questions about the checkout process, don’t hesitate to ask your RA/CA or CSD.
