January 9, 2017 Dear Students, Parents/Guardians, This year’s prom is quickly approaching. As you may know, the prom will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Ariana’s Grand in Woodbridge, NJ. The prom bids will cost $220 per couple of $110 for the individual bids. Bids can be purchased in full starting the week of March 6th or students have the option to pay in three payments that adhere to the following schedule: Date

January 2017 Dear Parents/Guardians/Students, As we prepare for the Arthur L. Johnson Senior/Junior Prom, we all share a concern over the safety of our students. Prom time is a special time for students and it is our goal to make sure each person has an enjoyable time at this special event. The guidelines set forth on the next page must be adhered to and followed. You are reminded that the prom is a school activity and the policies adopted by the school and the Board of Education will be enforced. The attached Student/Parent Contract must be signed and returned prior to the prom. A separate contract should be completed for each Junior/Senior attending the prom. Students may return the sheet when they purchase their prom bid. In addition, students bringing a guest who is not a Senior or Junior at ALJ must complete the Guest Permission Slip. This slip must be completed and returned prior to the prom. The Guest Permission Slip must be completed for underclassmen from ALJ who are attending the prom also. The prom this year will be at Ariana’s Grand in Woodbridge, NJ on Friday, June 9, 2017. All ALJ students will be dismissed at 12:02 p.m. this day. Students attending the prom must be in school for the entire session. Students are expected to be present at our next scheduled school day (Monday, June 12, 2017). Students who “cut” will be disciplined according to school policy. We are truly anticipating a great evening for our students. ARTHUR L. JOHNSON HIGH SCHOOL RULES FOR PROM 1. The prom is a function sanctioned by the Clark Board of Education. All Board of Education policies, rules, and regulations will be strictly enforced. 2. The day of the prom, June 9, 2017 is a 12:02 p.m. dismissal day for ALL ALJ students. Students attending the prom must be in school for the entire session. 3. In order to attend the prom, students must be in good standing in terms of their attendance and discipline records. 4. The use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, electronic cigarettes, and/or other controlled substances before, during, or after the prom is strictly prohibited. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be disciplined in accordance with Board of Education policy and parents and the local police will be notified. 5. This is a non-smoking event. Smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is prohibited anywhere on the premises. 6. Proper attire is expected (no sneakers, shorts, etc.). Students not dressed appropriately will be removed from the prom and a parent or guardian will be informed and responsible for picking up the student. 7. Refunds will not be given once bids are purchased. If a student is asked to leave the prom, no refund will be given either. 8. Students and guests are NOT permitted to leave the prom early. The parking lot, limousines, cars, buses are “off limits” while the prom is in progress. No students or guests will be permitted to re-enter the prom once they have left. The prom begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 11:00 p.m. 9. Students may invite a guest of their choice. All guests are subject to the approval of the Principal. Outside guests and ALJ underclassmen must have a completed permission slip in order to attend the prom. The advisor MUST be notified of a change of guest and the new guest must complete a guest permission slip and be approved by the Principal. 10. All guests who are not ALJ students must have a photo ID to be presented upon request. Administration can refuse entrance if a guest does not show identification. 11. All guests are subject to the same rules as ALJ students. ALJ students are responsible for providing their guests with a copy of these rules. 12. All bags and personal belongings are subject to search. 13. Prom attendees are under the direct supervision of ALJ High School during the hours of the prom. Parents/Guardians must assume responsibility prior to and at the conclusion of the prom.
