COUNCIL UPDATES

Communication Task Force – To maintain open communication between council and the congregation, after each council meeting the Communication Task force will provide an update on pertinent topics of discussion, decisions that have been made, and information on which input from the congregation is needed.

CARE — COME ALONGSIDE OTHERS

LET'S PRAY! — For Susan Schmidt (John Patrick’s cousin) who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She is currently undergoing chemo—we pray that her cancer slows it’s growth and heads into remission. Blessings to Sandy Frieswick, our missionary in Africa who celebrates her birthday tomorrow. David & Jan Kooistra our Wycliff Bible Translators sent out a prayer letter.

Building Task Force – Engineering drawings for the restoration of the building structure are in process. AHADI/BOSTON MARATHON —  Cara Hehn, niece to Brandon Hehn, will be running next Monday to raise funds for SCREAM/ Ahadi Family Kenya in memory of Jon Masso. Please stop by the display in the Fellowship Hall to find out how you can bless the lives of many at-risk boys from Nairobi. Thanks for your support!

Nominations — If there is a member of the congregation who you think should prayerfully be considered to be an elder (men) or deacon (men or women), please submit the name of the nominee to Elder Tom Cooper by April 30.

COLLEGE CARE PACKS — Final exams are approaching! Help support our college students through donating goods, writing a note of encouragement, and/or making sure your favorite student is on our list! See the table in the fellowship hall. Donations/notes will be collected through next Sunday.

Administrative Team – A recommendation was made to council regarding the calculation and payment of our denominational ministry share. More information will be provided prior to the congregational meeting in June.

Leadership Task Force – To refocus the roles of elder and deacon, make efficient use of each council member’s time, and ensure we are serving and fulfilling the needs of the congregation, a proposal for the restructuring of council was reviewed. This included detailed job descriptions for elders and deacons and the formation of three sub-teams: Shepherding, Ministry, Administration. Council has also been in discussion about opening the office of elder to both men and women. As communicated previously, the installation of new elders and deacons was delayed six months while work on the new leadership structure was in process. At the June congregational meeting, more details will be provided and new elders and deacons will be installed for 2½ year terms.

GATHER Welcome & Announcements Invocation SONG: All Glory Laud and Honor Call to Worship As we are called into worship today, it is sobering to remember that when God appeared on earth in the person of Jesus, most of the world did not recognize him. Today we ask for faith that will open our eyes to see Jesus for who he is, that we might worship him in truth. People of God, behold and see your God! We open our eyes to see his glory. We open our ears to hear his wisdom. We open our hands to give him gifts. We open our mouths to sing his praise. We open our hearts to offer him our love. He is Lord! SONG: Hosanna Renewal Jesus, our Lord, we shout hosannas to praise you. With eager hands, we place our cloaks and palms on the path before you. Yet, Lord, we confess that the mouths that seek to praise you often deny or defy you. And we confess that the hands that seek to serve you often become fists. Lord, hear us as we confess. Moment of Silent Prayer

Encouragement — from Psalm 118:4-5, 14,17 Hear the Word of the Lord: Let those who fear the Lord say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Out of my distress I called on the Lord. The Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord. In Christ, God answers us and sets us free! In Christ, we are forgiven! We give thanks to you our God. SONG: I Stand Amazed

TABLE Prayer of Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right for us to give him thanks and praise. Words of Institution Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again.

Passing the Peace The peace of Christ be with you. An also with you!

Invitation — Distribution of the Bread and Cup
