Do You Know The Power You Have? Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20) Do you know the power that works in you? My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6) Ephesians 3:20 is a popular scripture that Christians love to quote. Yet sometimes we forget the last part that says according to the power that works in us. If you’re not aware of the power that you have, then it cannot work in you. Many times when we’re in need of healing, we will pray something to the effect of, “God, if it be your will, please heal me.” Then nothing happens, and we get discouraged and conclude that God’s answer must have been no. well, as we established earlier, we know that it is always God’s will to heal. So, why are so many Christians still sick? Because God has now given that authority and power to you. You must appropriate the power that now works in you. In the beginning God gave dominion over all the earth and over every creeping thing on the earth to man. Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26) Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth includes germs and every type of diseasecausing bacteria, parasite, and virus. When Jesus sent out the twelve disciples, it says in Luke 9:1, “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them [power] and [authority] over all demons, and to [cure diseases].” In Luke 10:19 it says, “Behold, [I give you the authority] to trample on serpents and scorpions, and [over all the power of the enemy], and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” as we read earlier in Acts 10:38, one of the many vices satan uses to oppress God’s people is sickness. God has now given mankind dominion over all the earth and every creeping thing in it. That includes every bacteria, virus, parasite, and disease-causing agent. God has also given every born-again believer power and authority over all the power of the enemy and over all demons. Now, as new-covenant, born-again believers, we have the same power that raised Jesus form the dead living inside us. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. (Romans 8:11) And He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4)

The devil and his demons have no power. Jesus stripped them of it all. Colossians 2:15 (NLT) says, “In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers (principalities) and authorities (powers). He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.” The only power that the enemy has over us now is our God-given power and authority that we yield to him. The devil is a liar and a master deceiver. If he can make you think that your sickness is from God somehow and that you are powerless to do anything about it, then he can have free rein to come steal, kill and destroy your life.
