(GEISHA), PANAMA TO SOME, THE DON PEPE ESTATE MAY NEED NO INTRODUCTION. THE FARMS WHICH PRODUCE DON PEPE ARE SOME OF THE MOST ACCLAIMED IN THE WORLD AND THIS PRAISE IS RICHLY DESERVED. DON TONY IS DON PEPE’S SON AND THE CURRENT MANAGER OF THE ESTATE. HE IS THE FOURTH GENERATION OF COFFEE FARMERS IN HIS FAMILY AND HIS COFFEES ARE TRULY BEAUTIFUL. Don Tony is supremely conscious of the needs of his plants. He believes a healthy and well fed plant is its own best defence against disease. He is also meticulous about the processing of his cherries – whether it is through his coowned wet mill or on the African beds. All the coffees are processed, organized and gauged in a manner which draws on his wealth of experience – and his Geisha might be the epitome of his work. Boquete in Panama is where the most recent splash around the Geisha occurred, and Don Pepe was one of the first to try and grow the variety in the region. With the ideal climate and rich terroir combined with the aforementioned attention to farming detail, it is no surprise that Don Pepe’s Geishas are exceptional year after year. This Geisha is grown over 1500 masl and is dried on African beds until it is a rich purple and smells of sweet, berried wine. What comes out in the cup is a beautiful, refined, natural coffee worthy of its namesake.
TASTING NOTES Brown sugar aroma, stone fruit and sweet apple flavours, juicy acidity, well-structured body & with a clean and lingering finish.
