All newsletters can be viewed on the school website. Founded 2005 Vol 16. Issue 5 Dear Families, It was a great pleasure to see so many visitors at our Open Evening this week. This is the time when we have the opportunity to really show just what a special place EGA is. Over three hundred girls were involved in performing, helping out in departments or acting as tour guides. They are very proud of our school. Some of the girls address the audience in the lecture theatre and it was heart-warming to hear them talk about their experiences. The year 11 girls spoke of the sense of community, the opportunities they had been given, the space to grow and develop their self -confidence and of course, the amazing grades in the GCSEs they have already completed. The year 7 girls who has only been here for four weeks talked about how nervous they were prior to starting at EGA and how the Summer School had made such a big difference. They described the older girls as kind and so willing to help them out when they were lost. The only slightly annoyance was being called ‘cute’! The sense of community is very important to us and when we spoke to the prospective parents, we reminded them that it is not only the girls who become part of the EGA community but the parents too. Not only is it a big step for 11n year olds when they move to a secondary school but for the parents too. They are so used to meeting other parents and teachers informally and this isn’t the same in secondary schools where the girls have many different teachers and often want to travel to school with friends. We try to present opportunities for parents to become involved. The year 7 garden party was a great success and on Wednesday of next week we have our ‘Settling In Evening’ where parents are invited in to meet their daughter’s tutor. We look forward to seeing you there. Yours sincerely

EGA OPEN EVENING 2017
EGA has opened its doors to hundreds of prospective students and parents over the last 2 weeks as part of our Open Events. On Wednesday we hosted our annual Open Evening, in which year 6 students and their families were able to visit every subject and faculty to see all that our school has to offer. The
event was fantastic! We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who to took the time to visit our school and hope to see you again very soon. We really hope the experience was useful and enjoyable. We would also like to say thank you to our teachers
for showcasing what they do so brilliantly every day and, of course, the hundreds of current students who acted as wonderful ambassadors for our school in their roles as tour guides, presenters and subject advocates. We are all extremely proud of your contribution! Click here for more photos

Staying Safe Online Parent Dropin Session with PC Ahmed. At EGA, whilst we encourage the use of online resources for learning, we are also very aware of the dangers
that the internet and social media can present to young people. We want to work in partnership with all parents in our school community to ensure that our students stay as safe as possible online. On Monday 9th October at 2:00pm PC Ahmed is
holding a drop-in session for parents to discuss the potential dangers of social media and other online activity. He will be offering advice on how best to support your daughter and answer any questions you might have.
