how to distinguish sounds. Maths. We will learn to recite numbers in the correct sequence through songs, rhymes and play activities. We will be learning to count objects through actions and songs. We will be using construction blocks, matching and sorting games and developing understanding of shape.

We will be reading The Gruffalo and other monster stories. We will learn to say some of these stories through Talk for Writing. We will think about words and vocabulary and work on our letter formation. We will create a forest role play with monster pictures and models and create characters from the stories we read. We will learn about the environment, seasons, weather and the world around us.

Science. We will use sand, water, our outdoor area, magnetic toys, balancing activities and a range of toys that develop early science skills. PSED We will learn how to play well with our friends. PD We will learn how to fasten our coats.

We will talk about characters, setting, the start and end of stories. We will talk about our favourite characters and our favourite stories. We will have a ‘Monster Mash’ party as a finale for ‘Monsters’ and a Lords and Ladies banquet as a finale for ‘Fairy Tales & Forests’.

EYFS In Nursery we follow the EYFS profile, a copy of which is on the website. There are 17 areas of learning made up of 3 specific areas: Personal Social and Emotional learning, Physical Development, Communication & Language and 4 prime areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design. The activities in nursery are designed to enable children to develop across all of these areas of learning. Children will become independent learners and make choices about their activities, balanced with an appropriate range of adult-led learning. Children will have free access to both the inside, outdoor and all-weather areas. ICT In nursery ICT is a very wide range of technology e.g. using moving toys, remote controls, walkie-talkies, telephones, CD players, using knobs and pulleys as well as computers & tablets. Nursery children will begin to have an opportunity to visit the ICT suite in the infant school. They also have access to the computer in nursery to produce pictures. We also have 3 educational ‘tablets’. L
