A letter from your Golden Corridor President
It’s February or May??? As I write this, the weatherman is telling me that we should break the old record of 59o and reach the mid 60’s! The attached message is what I had intended to submit in January, but I ended up using another letter. I hope you enjoy! This is going to be a fabulous year for all of us! Not because I wish it be, or that you hope it will be, but because this year, we are going to Be the One to go after what we want! Sounds good right?!? Well OK, how will we do that? How can we achieve our goals of a new job, a new hobby, becoming healthier or whatever you want to do this year? ü We do it by saying it to someone. Saying your goal aloud makes it more real, almost physical. Another person has heard it and can now encourage us along the path to accomplishing the goal ü Imagine yourself already at your goal! How do you feel? How excited are you to tell everyone what you’ve accomplished!! ü Last, never give up! This is the hardest we all face, especially when we reach an obstacle or a pinnacle. You will want to quit, that’s when we need to find a way to go around, crawl over, or tunnel under what’s in our way. Remember you CAN do it!

I want to be the one to encourage each of you to reach a goal this year, no matter how big or small. I know goals are achievable if you want it and work for it. Stephanie Doppelt Corresponding Secretary

Have you ever given any thought to holding a leader position within Golden Corridor? Do you have a flair for organizing meetings and reaching out to potential speakers? Then you might be a nice fit for program director for Golden Corridor in 2013/2014. Our chapter has the program director and vice presidency rolled into one. And, while I've enjoyed the experience for the past two years, I already know I will not continue this position after this year. I'd like to have a member or two show an interest and work the end of the year along my side. Speakers are all set up, but you could be learning the ropes about just what goes into putting on the meeting itself and confirming all with our monthly speakers. So, how about reaching out to me and let's talk. It does not have to be a one woman endeavor....it can be shared with others. Reach me by phone at 847 605 6392 or email by
[email protected]. I'd love to share the wealth and train someone (or more than one) to expand your leadership skills. If you are a CAP, this role can also get you extra recertification points. I am happy to talk to you and explain the time needed to fill this role and the rewards of meeting new and exciting people in the process. Linda J. Clark CAP-OM

Would you like to become more involved in the Golden Corridor Chapter? Are you comfortable working with basic Excel and would like to learn how to create a budget for our chapter? Then you might be a nice fit for Chapter Treasurer for Golden Corridor in 2013/2014. This position takes only a few hours a month. Being chapter treasurer is a great way to get to know all of our members at the chapter meetings. So, how about reaching out to me and let's talk. I will be available to support the new treasurer and you will not be left on your own. You may reach me by phone at 847-758-9879 or email at
[email protected]. I'd love to share the wealth and train someone to expand your leadership skills. Ann Kuhlmann

Are you interested in purchasing group tickets for a family event (not just members) to go to a Schaumburg Boomers (formerly Flyers) baseball game? This is just a fun event for us to get together and have some fun at the ballpark. Laura (Golden Corridor President) would look into group rates if we get enough interest. Wouldn't it be great to see our Chapter name shown on the jumbo-tron! Please hold down your CTRL key & click on Schaumburg Boomers and just give Laura (Golden Corridor President) a Yes (with a head count of how many would attend) or a No. If you have any ideas of family events or non family events that would be fun to have your chapter share in, we would love to hear from you.
