History Day The children in KS2 enjoyed their History Day on 27 May. We can now reveal the Winning Monarch – it was Queen Victoria. So well done to the children in J5 for presenting such a convincing case. A special mention must go to Finn who played the part of Queen Victoria with such a regal air! The prize for J5 will be an individual treat and they will also have the privilege of gathering items to place in our Time Capsule which will be buried on the school grounds shortly. Viking Day The children in Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed the Viking Day on Wednesday. They all looked wonderful in their Viking attire and enjoyed a variety of activities to enhance their learning. Many thanks for your efforts. Sports day – Years 1 to 6 Sports Day takes place next Friday 24 June 2016 (weather permitting) at 1.30 pm – the gate will be opened at 1.15 pm. The children may bring trainers into school that day, instead of wearing their pumps. They are also asked to bring a water bottle that they can take outside with them. If the weather is sunny, please remember all day sun cream and a sun hat! Sports Day – Foundation Stage Sports Day for pupils in Reception and Nursery will take place on Friday 1 July 2016 (weather permitting). The timings are as follows:-
10.00 am for parents of children in morning Nursery and Infant 1 (Ms Hudson’s Class) 2.15 pm for parents of children in afternoon Nursery and Infant 2 (Mrs Varney’s class)
Please enter the school premises via the Nursery/Children’s Centre gate. We ask that parents wait in the Children’s Centre outdoor play area until the small gate that leads onto the field is opened. Reception Stay and Play - Reminder Parents of children in our Reception classes are invited to ‘Stay and Play’ sessions. The last session for this academic year will take place on Wednesday 29 June from 9.00 am to 9.30 am. Fit for Life Group The last Fit for Life group walk for this academic year will take place on Thursday 7 July 2016 – meet up outside the school gates at 8.55 am. All parents/grandparents/carers are welcome to join in. Year 6 Trip to Kingswood in September 2016 – Reminder Could we please remind you that the May instalment for the Kingswood Trip is overdue. All payments for the trip will need to be made before we finish school for the summer. Thank you. ECO Club The children who are in the ECO Club meet once per month. The last Eco Club meeting for this academic year will take place on Monday 27 June. School Nurse Drop-In Sessions The last School Nurse Drop-In Clinic for this academic year is:Wednesday 6 July from 8.45 to 9.45 am The clinic will be held in school – so if you wish to see the nurse, please just report to the school office. During the clinics the nurse will be available for a confidential service regarding your child’s health and development, including health promotion advice and signposting to others for information and support. The nurse is based at Maghull Health Centre – telephone 0151 222 3437.
