Area Manager Human Resources Carowinds has an opening for Area Manager Human Resources in its Human Resources Division in Charlotte, NC. This full time position will report to the Director Human Resources. JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates and manages the company training function for the HR department, administers company orientation, training programs, audits associate guest service skills and makes recommendations for enhancements. Responsible for planning and executing Associate events and staffing for non-profit groups. Assists in the operation of the Human Resources Department in an efficient and courteous manner. QUALIFICATIONS:
High school and college with a preferred Associates or Bachelor degree in related HR field.
1 to 3 years related experience.
Working knowledge of employment law, training and HRIS preferred.
Computer skills including familiarity of spreadsheets, word processing and HRIS.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and planning skills.
Good communication (written, verbal and listening) skills especially for dealing with the public and associates.
Strong organizational and presentation skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to convey a positive and professional image to applicants and associates.
Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
Demonstrated supervision and/or management experience preferably in the Human Resources field.
Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements and executes associate events to build positive morale and increase associate retention.
Executes existing plan and develops future strategic training plans that will result in high quality associates. Monitoring, evaluating and recording training activities and determining the programs’ effectiveness. Auditing associates for developing excellent guest service skills.
Maintains clear and concise communication and effective working relationship with associates, managers, human resources team, departments and guests by answering questions, explaining policies and procedures. Assists in the training of management staff on legal and Human Resources policies and procedures.
Responsible for assisting with various HR functions including recruiting trips; assists with associate wardrobe distribution; conducting interviews, reference and background verifications; attend meetings; make presentations internally and externally; prepare and post job descriptions ensuring accuracy and updates; prepares, writes, edits and coordinates printings and mailings; monitors park compliance of Federal and State child labor regulations; assist park with events including assembly and disassembly of SCarowinds for fall operations.
Assist in preparing budget and monitoring expenses for cost effectiveness and budget guidelines. Keeps manager informed of any issues.
Complies with Company Code of Conduct and follows established accounting procedures for procurement and documentation of purchases. Assists in complying with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirement and advising management on needed action.
Fosters a professional, trained and motivated seasonal staff to assist with training functions and executing associate events.
Assists in resolving associate/employment issues by investigating complaints and concerns, evaluating and offering possible courses of action, providing advice, guidance and directions.
Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
