INGRAVE JOHNSTONE C OF E PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER ‘Realising the potential of every child within a caring Christian community’ Friday 4th December 2015 Dear Parents and Carers Two weeks to go! And what a very busy two weeks we have ahead of us. We have sent home a separate letter this week about all the events coming up over the next two weeks just to remind you and, as usual, we have included a list of dates of what’s on at the end of this newsletter. WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK?

Class 3 went to ‘Kent Life’ for a visit – they had a great time and were very well behaved!

PA CHRISTMAS BAZAAR Thank you to all the members of the PA who have been working very hard to get ready for tomorrow’s Christmas Bazaar. We hope to see many of you there tomorrow and know it will be lots of fun. It’s not too late to volunteer your time to help on the day, just email Tina Clark on [email protected] if you have any time to spare on the day. We’ll see you tomorrow. LIEUTENANT-GENERAL ANDREW GRAHAM CBE Years 4 and 5 had a special visitor on Thursday, Lieutenant General Andrew Graham for the British Exploring Society who came to talk to the children about Antarctica as a follow up to the Antarctica Day we had last half term. He also spoke to the children about Ernest Shackleton’s expeditions to the Antarctic and told them about a Shackleton Exhibition on at the moment at the Royal Geographical Society in London and at the Scott Polar Research Institute Museum in Cambridge. If you are looking for something to do over the Christmas holidays, we are sure either exhibition would be worth a visit, especially if your child has caught the exploring bug!

SPORTS NEWS On Tuesday afternoon, Damon Pearse, Roman Brandon, Toby Beeson, Harry StevensonFernley, Ellis Johnson-Briggs, Jack Summers, Alex Griffiths, Abi Nutman, Beth Savill and Izabelle Belcher played in a dodgeball tournament at St Martins Secondary School. We are extremely proud of the team who won ALL of their five games and sailed through to the finals which they then went on to win! The children were amazing and played some incredible dodgeball with some very impressive ducking and throwing! They will now play in the County Finals game which will take place early next year. Congratulations to the whole team involved and a special thank you Coach Mike and Pete Mynard for training and preparing the team so well. GIRLS’ FOOTBALL The Girls Football Team also had a successful game on Thursday night at home against St Helens. All of the girls played exceptionally well and won 5-1! We are very proud of all of the girls and are grateful to all of the parents and children who came to cheer the team on. We hope you can watch their future home matches as you were clearly their lucky mascots! ATTENDANCE As we always say, attendance at school at all times is very important and that 96% is considered by the Government to be good attendance.
