INTRAMURALS IM SOCCER RULES OPEN/WOMENS/COREC ELIGIBILITY 1. Any current full-time or part-time student at Fresno State are eligible. Any Faculty and Staff who want to play must purchase a $ 25.00 Intramural Participation Card for each semester in which they wish to participate. 2. Every player MUST present a valid Fresno State ID card to the supervisor in charge of the field before EVERY game. 3. Every player must pass the participant quiz on IMLeagues before they are allowed to play in their first game. 4. Current intercollegiate athletes are ineligible to compete in the same or related sport. 5. Members of sport clubs are allowed to participate in the respective intramural sport, however, a maximum of two sport club members are allowed on any one intramural team. You are considered a sport club member for 1-year after your sport club membership ends. 6. Each team must declare a team captain. Captains or a representative of each team MUST attend a designated captain’s meeting. Failure to attend a captain’s meeting will result in a forfeit. Participants are allowed to sign up as free agents and must attend a separate free agent meeting where they will be assigned a team. Failure to appear to a free agent meeting may result in removal from league. 7. Every team will get one late game that they will be able to use throughout the entire season. If a team decides to use their late game they will get an additional 5 minutes before the start of the contest. Each team will also be allowed two forfeits throughout the season, on the third, the team will lose eligibility for the tournament. 8. Participants must play in two (2) league games to be eligible to play in tournament games. Every participant has to take the participant quiz prior to his or her first game. 1

SPORTSMANSHIP 1. Sportsmanship is everyone’s responsibility. We hope that everyone will conduct him or herself in a mature and friendly manner. Unsportsmanlike behavior may be called on any participant, substitute, or spectator. Team captains/managers are responsible for the conduct of their players and spectators. 2. All teams are required to maintain a 3.50 sportsmanship to be eligible for playoffs. Any team who receives two “3” ratings in the playoffs will be eliminated, regardless of whether they won or not. Any team who receives a “2” or lower rating in the playoffs will be eliminated regardless of whether they won or not. 3. A yellow/red card system will be used to monitor unsportsmanlike behavior, rough play, and improper conduct. A participant who receives a yellow card will be required to sit out for two minutes of game time. A participant who receives a red card shall be ejected from the game and will need to leave the field before play resumes. A team with a carded player will be required to play with one less player until the penalty time has expired (Yellow = 2 minutes & Red = 4 minutes). If a player is carded and refuses to tell his/her name, the game will be forfeited. Spectators may be issued a yellow or red card and asked to leave if necessary. 4. Penalties for rough play are sport specific and will be enforced in addition to unsportsmanlike penalties. The following is an example list of yellow/red card offenses for coed soccer: 

Yellow Card--- Non-directional profanity, arguing with officials, unnecessary contact, taunting opponents, sideline interference, tripping, kicking.



Red Card--- Directional profanity, flagrant contact, fighting.

5. Spectators may be issued a yellow or red card and asked to leave if necessary. Penalties for rough play are sport specific and will be enforced in addition to unsportsmanlike penalties. 6. TRASH: If a team leaves any trash on their field they will be given a 3 in sportsmanship. Each team is responsible for leaving the field cleaner than when they arrived.

Yellow/Red Card Point System: Individual  Yellow card = a two-minute power play and ball is awarded the opponent.  2 yellow cards in one game = *the player is eliminated from the rest of the game. 2

Total of 2 yellow cards received in different games = player may finish the game that the second yellow card is received in. Red card = ejection from game, four-minute power play and ball is awarded the opponent.

EQUIPMENT 1. Soccer balls will be provided for gameplay only. Team will need to bring their own balls for warm-ups. 2. NO METAL CLEATS, NO BASEBALL CLEATS (MCS-hard plastic). 3. No jewelry may be worn at anytime including: hats, sleeves, glasses, crosses, baller bands, necklaces, sunglasses, earrings or any other piercings. If it is not naturally part of your body it can not be worn in a game. Piercings can NOT be covered by tape they must be taken out. ONLY true sweatbands may be worn. 4. Athletic attire only. Shorts without pockets or belt loops may be worn. Soccer pants may be worn. LOCATION 1. Games will be played at the Kinesiology Fields. PLAYERS 1. Each team will be composed of 4 (minimum) to 6 (maximum) players. (Coed 3:1) 2. Rosters will be limited to 12 players. 3. No KEEPER will be used. GAME PLAY *Intramural soccer play abides by the National Federation of High School Associations Rules for the 2015-2016 seasons with the following exceptions: 1. GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME. Please arrive 15 minutes before game time. 2. Two (2) 20-minute halves. 3. Mercy Rule: If one team is ahead by five goals with five minutes left to play, the game will be ended. 4. The offside rule will not be in effect. 5. There will be no slide tackling from any direction allowed. 6. There will be no direct kicks. All kicks will be in-direct kicks. 7. A penalty that happens within the ten-yard zone will result in an “indirect” kick from the ten-yard line. 3

8. If hands are used to prevent a goal, the player will be issued a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct. If the referee believes that the ball would have gone in the goal without the use of the players’ hands, the goal will be counted and the defensive player will still receive a yellow card. 9. No corner kicks. The ball must be thrown in. 10. Goal kicks from the 10-yard line. 11. A kick from beyond 30 yards must be touched by another person before entering the goal. If the ball enters the goal without being touched the ball is turned over to the other team for a goal kick. 12. CoRec Rules: Males cannot guard females; there must be 5 feet in between the males and females. No Mirroring allowed. 13. CoRec Rules: If a female enters the 10yd zone of the goal area, a male is able steal the ball or play defense on a female to prevent a goal. 14. Overtime: If the game is tied at the end of regulation (playoffs only) then there will be a 5-minute overtime period. If the game is still tied at the end of the first overtime period a second will be played for 5 minutes. If the game is still tied, then PKs from the 30yd line with no goalie will begin. Each time will have 5 shooters and no one player can kick twice.

DEFINITIONS BALL OUT OF PLAY The ball is out of play when it has completely crossed the goal line or sideline, whether on the ground or in the air. The ball is in play at all other times including: -If it rebounds from a goal post, crossbar, or corner flag post into the field of play. -Until an official sounds the whistle. -When it touches an official or line judge in the field of play. DROP BALL A drop ball occurs: -When the ball is caused to go out-of-bounds by 2 opponents simultaneously. -Following a temporary suspension of play for an injury or unusual situation and no team has clear possession of the ball. -When a simultaneous foul of the same degree occurs by opponents. The ball is considered in play once it has touched the ground and cannot be played before then. PENALTY KICK A penalty kick shall be taken from the penalty mark and when it is being taken, all players, with exception of the player taking the kick, shall be within the field of play, but 4

outside the penalty area, and at least 10 yards from the penalty marker. The opposing goalkeeper must stand on his own goal line, between the goal posts until the ball is kicked. GOAL KICK When the attacking team causes the whole of the ball to pass over the goal line, other than the area between the goal posts and under the crossbar, either in the air or on the ground, a player on the defending team shall kick the ball from any point within the goal area. A goal kick shall clear the penalty area and enter the field of play. In the event it does not, the goal kick shall be repeated. CORNER KICK When the defending team causes the whole of the ball to pass over the goal line, other than the area between the goal posts and under the crossbar, either in the air or on the ground, a member of the attacking team shall take a throw-in from the nearest corner of the field. A goal cannot be scored directly from the throw-in. THROW-IN When the whole of the ball passes over a touch-line (sideline) either in the air or on the ground, it shall be thrown in from a point where it crossed the line, by a member of the opposing team. The thrower shall use both hands and shall deliver the ball from over the head. Some part of both feet must be on the ground, either on or behind the touchline, when the ball leaves his hands. * Rec Sports & Fitness reserves the right to make changes without notice, if necessary.
