Aintree Davenhill Primary School
22nd NSPCC Sponsored Spell So far we have collected £1,488 for the sponsored spell, which is a fabulous sum of money to raise. We know that most classes have completed their spelling test now and that many children have collected their sponsor money. The NSPCC will be back in school for a final assembly on 5th February so please could you return any collected money as soon as possible. Hopefully the children have done as well with learning their spellings as the amount raised indicates! Well done children! Cross Country Medals Miss Nelson, the P.E teacher from Maghull High, came to our assembly today to present our children with gold, silver and bronze medals from their cross country meets last autumn. Most of the children received multiple medals showing their strength and determination at each of the events. I don’t think Miss Nelson will have many other schools to visit, as we clearly received the vast majority of medals.

Parking around school As you are aware, I frequently send out parking reminders with a view to the safety of our children and other road users. We also try to remind parents about not parking in any way that disturbs or makes life difficult for our neighbours around school. This week I was sent a very clear photograph showing two cars parked on the double yellow lines on Aintree Lane and two further cars completely parked across residents’ driveways. The resident who sent the photograph was unable to get their car out for work and did not want to put herself in the position of challenging the driver. The police have again agreed to get involved in looking at the parking around school.
5E Assembly 5E performed their class assembly for their parents today. It was an excellent history lesson about World War One for the KS2 children who watched the assembly. 5E showed their excellent knowledge from this history topic which they completed last term. The children made a great effort with costumes, learning difficult lines, acting and singing. Their performance of 'Bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover' definitely brought a few tears to their parents. Really well done 5E, your parents were very proud of you!
Time Travelling Tales Creative Writing Competition Well done to all the children who entered the competition. The response from the children was absolutely fantastic and we are really proud of all who entered. If your child’s mini-saga has been selected for publication, you should have received a letter in the post or handed to your child by their class teacher. If your child has not received theirs, please contact Mrs Payne. Can parents please ensure that if they wish their child’s work to be published they must return the consent form as soon as possible. There is no obligation to purchase a book, as school will receive a complimentary copy after publication. This will be kept in school for parents to look at. If you have any questions please speak to Mrs Payne.
