Lynn Lary McLean’s father purchased the original Friendswood location in 1970 as a gift for her mother. In 1982, the Larys built a new, 4,150-square-foot facility located at 315 S. Friendswood Dr. Today, it employs eight people and contracts additional community members for weekend events. The shop is well-known in the Houston area as it handles all of the flower décor for the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston. Garnering national acclaim, Lary’s Florist has had the distinguished honor to help decorate several inaugural balls for presidents from Ronald Reagan to Bill Clinton to George H. Bush and George W. Bush.

McLean, who now runs the family business, has lived and worked in Friendswood for 32 years. “Living and working in Friendswood has enabled me to have the best of both worlds,” said McLean. “Alongside my husband, Mark, I was able to raise my two daughters and participate in their lives, as well as grow my business. Lary is an active civic participant. She served on the board of directors for the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce and the Heritage Museum, among others. “The quality of life in Friendswood is what I love the most; everything is local and the people in the community are wonderful,” she said.
