Materials Needed Lingerie elastic, 3/8” wide (knitted or woven, not braided), enough for 2-3 panties, about 21/2yds per panty. Prepackaged lingerie elastic includes amount for 1 panty. tape measure, seam gauge, seam ripper, Wash out marking pen, or iron out (Frixon) 1 3/8” extra fine or Ultra fine glass-head pins. A magnetic pin cushion is recommended for ease in handling pins. Fabric shears, paper scissors, small sharp scissors for trimming. Optional, but recommended: 28mm rotary cutter with new blade Rotary mat, pattern weights 12”-18” clear ruler with 1/8” markings Fabric for your Panties: pre-washed. 3/8-1/2yd, depending on size and waist depth. Knit fabric that will stretch from 25% to 100% over its original length. Good choices include cotton jersey, cotton spandex, bamboo knits, Modal and nylon/spandex blends. ¼ yd of 100% cotton knit fabric for gusset lining. Good choices include cotton jersey, organic cotton knit or bamboo. You can also use an old men’s t-shirt. Synthetic knits are not recommended. Good quality long-staple polyester thread (Mettler) to match or coordinate with fabric. Use a “STRETCH” needle in your sewing machine, size 75 or 90. A sewing machine in good working order, don’t forget power cord and foot petal, and extra bobbins. Classroom sewing machines are available for you to use if you don’t want to bring your own.
