GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Happy New Year! While this is the beginning of a new calendar year, your chapter is in the midst of its fiscal year which runs from September 1st through August 31st. As such, this is a very busy time of year for the chapter.
Our first General Membership Meeting of 2013 will be a Middle Tennessee and National Economic Outlook presentation from David A. Penn of the Business & Economic Research Center of Middle Tennessee State University and sponsored by Bass, Berry & Sims on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the offices of Bass, Berry & Sims.
I want to encourage you to register for our Winter General Membership meeting on Valentine’s Day, February 14th when you will learn more about the economic outlook for 2013. Plans are being finalized for our Spring General Membership meeting which will include a Commercial Real Estate Panel Discussion.

2013 ARTICLE WRITING COMPETITION We have numerous upcoming educational course offerings as well that perhaps you or someone you know at your institution may benefit from attending. Oh, and with this newsletter we are announcing the 2013 Article Writing Competition where the top three entries will not only receive cash awards from our chapter but will also be entered into RMA’s national competition. Our Nominating Committee is beginning its work to develop a slate of 2013-14 Officers and Directors to be presented to our Board of Directors in April with elections held in May. This year’s chapter competition will have $1,500 in cash awards shared by the top three entries. All entries must be received no later than Earth Day, Monday, April 22, 2013. Any employee of an RMA member institution and any RMA professional member can enter the competition. The competition has been specially designed for today’s busy credit risk professional. You can draw from past experiences with little or no outside research, pick a cutting-edge topic with special research, or do something in-between.
