New Braunfels Presbyterian Announcements for the Week of April 26th, 2015
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING: The PNC has requested the session call a congregational meeting for May 3rd, for the purpose of placing in nomination the name of a candidate for the position of installed pastor at NBPC. The meeting will be at 10:15 am. More information will be coming from the PNC to the members of the congregation concerning its candidate.
MOC DEVOTIONAL BREAKFAST: The MOC Breakfast for May will be Friday, the 8th at 7:30 AM in the Activity Center. The cooks are Charlie Felts, Manard Ivy, and Mike Olson. We will take a summer break after this meeting and resume in September. As is our custom, the May breakfast will be “on the house”. Also as is our custom around Memorial Day, we will take a moment after breakfast to have a roll call and honor the Men of the Church who have passed away. There will be no planned lesson following the breakfast other than a casual time for fellowship. The sign-up sheet is posted in the credenza.
LADIES NIGHT OUT: Our next dinner will be Tuesday, April 28th at 6 PM at Reel Seafood House in Spring Branch. The address is 17130 State Hwy 46 West for those who want to drive themselves. For those who may want to carpool, we will meet at the church and leave by 5:30. Please sign up in the Narthex. Questions, call Kim Wright at 830-964-5189.
WOMEN OF NBPC’S SPRING LUNCHEON: The Women of NBPC’s Spring Luncheon is next Saturday, May 2nd at 11:30 in the conference room. Your company is welcome as we gather in fellowship, enjoy catered box lunches, support the national 2015 PW Birthday Offering, and hear about local ministries for single mothers and babies from Laura Littleton with Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services in San Antonio. Today is the last day to reserve and pre-pay ($14, checks payable to Presbyterian Women) in the Narthex.
THANK YOU: Thank you to all of the church volunteers who helped NBPC make our recent Family Promise host week such a success! We have received thank you cards from both families we hosted. Stop by the Mission & Outreach Committee's bulletin board outside the kitchen to read the cards and understand how much they appreciated your generosity.
KDO GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Kid's Day Out annual golf tournament is coming up soon. The big day is May 9 at The Bandit Golf Club with a 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. Entry Fee is $85 and includes green fees, cart, unlimited range balls and hamburger buffet following the completion of play. It's always a fun tournament and all proceeds benefit our KDO program. If you don't play golf, donations are always welcome. Sponsoring a hole on the golf course is also an option. For a $150 tax deductible donation, we'll put a sign with your name on it on the golf course on the day of the tournament. Forms for playing in the tournament and donations are available in the church office or contact Suzy Wilkinson at (830) 629-2286. Thank you for your support!
WALK IN THE PARK: We have been told that the Landa Park renovations are due to be completed by Memorial Day Weekend. On Tuesday we plan to walk Panther Canyon. Join us in front of the church on Tuesday at 10. We'll carpool to the top of the canyon and walk back.
PRAYER GROUPS: Currently we have a Wednesday Morning Prayer Group, a Telephone Tree Prayer Chain, and an Email Prayer Chain. If you are interested in joining any of our prayer groups, please contact the Church office, at 625-5141 or
[email protected].
FOOD DRIVE: The 23rd Annual “Stamp Out Hunger” Letter Carriers’ Food Drive will be held Saturday, May 9th. This is your opportunity to put canned foods in a bag and leave the bag at your mailbox for the US Postal Service employees to pick up that day. All donations are given to the SOS Food Bank in Comal County to benefit families here.
FAMILY PROMISE BED RACE: NBPC is forming a team to represent the church in Family Promise's 1st Annual Bed Race, to be held June 20th at Church Hill Middle School. This event is the primary fundraising vehicle for FP-GNB for the year. We'll build a bed-racing vehicle that requires a team of 6 (four pushers, a rider and an alternate). Prizes will be awarded for Fastest, Crowd Favorite and Best Theme. Deadline to enter is May 15, so the team will be forming soon. If you are interested in helping with the build, creating a theme, donating bed decor or being part of the race team, there is a place for you! Please contact Neil Gately (
[email protected]; 830-226-7063) to volunteer or learn more. If you would like to sponsor our team with an online donation, please go to nbbedrace.com, then click on the 1st Annual Bed Race tab on the upper right side of the page. If you prefer to donate off line, make checks payable to “Family Promise-GNB”
with “Bed Race” on the memo line. Please submit checks to Neil Gately or to the church office. Thank you for your support! The disciples and others returned to Jerusalem…where they constantly devoted themselves to prayer while they waited for the promise of the Father. Acts 1:12,14, 4b A mew day is dawning for NBPC. Let prayer abound among its people. Let us pray for: · The PNC as it completes the call process. · The Committee on Ministry and the examination of a potential candidate. · The church in anticipation of the new life that will come with new leadership.
