New Orleans Metropolitan Area Tennis Association – Board Minutes August 14, 2013 @ MCC Meeting called to order at 12:41 by Kathy. In Attendance: Chris Dazet, Henry Crocker, Bob Browning, Sandy Huston, Kathy Hinrichs, Carla Catalano, and Lana Whitlow . Treasurer’s Report: No formal report given – finances remain as previously reported. League Report: (Kathy)  Adult day and night fall leagues report increase in number of teams. Mixed league numbers remained stable. Tri level increased in 15 new players.  JTT – (Diane) JTT State Tournament successfully advanced 3 teams to sectionals. Fall season to open in September with captain meeting. New this year is a high school division for JTT.

Pro Affiliation: (Chris) Chris to schedule a lunch with the area pros to focus on adult beginners. Marketing & Media: (no report) Website/Social Marketing Report: (Carla) ·● Discussion regarding web designer used for Coconut Beach site (Dream Weaver). Carla to follow up on the basic $750 price with ideas and suggestions from Board. Facebook totals 276 Likes. Captains will be contacted and encouraged to send pictures from State Tournament for Tri Level in Baton Rouge. Awards (Diane) Diane sent email asking for nominations to only receive one response. Consideration of NOMATA and Tennis Apprentice for submission for 2 awards. Deadline is September 18th. Nominating Committee (Henry)

Henry to schedule time to meet with Chris and Lynda and report recommendations by next NOMATA meeting. Old Business:  3600 postcards sent to lapsed players. Coordinators went through to identify players. Sandy to follow up with 50 people as random sample.  Leagues over 500 players are to have assistants. Assistants have been put in place for day and night women, tri level and mixed league.  Elizabeth has resigned from Marketing/Media role to focus on mixed league and Tennis Apprentice roles.  Continuing to look for storage facility offering greater access and security.

New Business:  Tennis Apprentice Summer Program was very successful. Attendees are required to have USTA membership.  Partnership with Audubon for Free Clinics for Adult Beginners and Kids ages 5-10. Offered September 7, 14 & 21 from 11am to Noon. Registration at www.neworleanstennis.com.  LTA 2014 State Tournament Bids now extended to 2 years. Next meeting at MCC on September 17th at 12:30 Meeting adjourned at 2:12.
