Family Fun Work

This month’s project is super easy and fun! You get to help your child decorate a pumpkin! Use your imagination, stickers, pictures, fabric, magazines, etc. to fix up your fabulous pumpkin! (Remember, don’t use food!) Send them back as soon as you can, and I’ll display them until the end of the month! Thank you to all the families who participated in last month’s project!

Students earn a shoe on the wall for earning 85% or above on AR tests. Almost every student in my class earned at least one shoe in the month of September! Congrats to: Lakitu: 7 shoes Cheyenne: 6 shoes Bla’yne: 1 shoe Augusta: 9 shoes Kayli: 1 shoe Adrian: 10 shoes Kenya: 12 shoes Daniya: 2 shoes Car’Shawn: 2 shoes Rasee: 4 shoes Ryan: 17 shoes Tonya: 6 shoes Masyn: 25 shoes Raymundo: 1 shoe

We’ve received Book Buddy Materials from Braum’s that will add a sweet incentive to earning high AR scores. Each time a student scores an 85% or higher on an AR test (starting October 1), he or she will receive a sticker toward a free ice cream treat at Braum’s. Also, the Book It program begins October 1, a program sponsored by Pizza Hut to encourage reading. Our daily goal for October is 20 minutes. I will be sending home a calendar for you to track your student’s reading each day. At the end of the month, send it back completed for a coupon for a free personal pan pizza. Yum!

In other news, Ryan and Masyn have mastered the second grade national vocabulary words and moved on to third grade words! They received a shout out from Mrs. Copeland during morning announcements, and they had their picture in the McCurtain County Gazette!

We made our own flag for Constitution Day on September 17.
