Northfield Soccer Association Board Meeting Minutes Monday, April 11, 2016

Call to order Nate Adams, President of the Northfield Soccer Association, called to order the regular meeting of the Northfield Soccer Association at 7:02 pm on 4/11/2016 in the library of the Northfield United Methodist Church.

Roll Call Quorum was present with the following board members in attendance: Nate Adams – President Dave Wieber – Vice President Tom Brice – Treasurer Brent Kivell-Referee Coordinator Tonya Sauer – Secretary Other members present: Tammy Seymour (NSA Administrator) Jorge Zuccolotto (Director of Coaching & Player Development) Todd Orjala Nathan Knutson Doug Roney Scott Ims

Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved by unanimous consent.
IV.
Approval of minutes from last meeting Corrections to painting of NSA logo not bank logo and one piece of grammar. Minutes from 3/14/16 board meeting were approved by unanimous consent.

New Business a) Team Formation and Tryout Policy – January 1- December 31 is new birth requirements for team formations. Looked at and discussed preliminary policy write-up, from Phil Kasten and Nathan Knutson, regarding birth age and team formation including tryouts and younger players playing up and not leaving NSA to go to other clubs. Any comments or changes to be made by April 30 before final write-up and approval from board at the May 9, 2016 Board Meeting. b) Children’s Liaison- Discussion regarding the need for someone to take the lead in recruiting younger players. Getting interest up through various avenues. Registration form at sites during camps, etc…CAC number on forms and communication with CAC. Doug Roney to take on this task.
c) Parent/Coach/Volunteer Player Compensation Policy- Todd Orjala and Dave Weiber drafted a policy to compensate parent-coaches by having their child’s traveling soccer registration fee waved based on qualifications and experience. Discussed the draft and made changes, to current license holders and parent coaches vs. paid coaches at various levels. Discussions to put together another policy regarding how we roster coaches and the parameters for putting parent coaches on their child’s team. Any re-writes and changes due April 30 to vote on next board meeting, May 9, 2016. Information to be sent out to parents regarding the opportunity to get your E license and be compensated for it. d) NSA President- Nate Adams said that he will no longer hold the President position after the Annual Meeting and wanted it out early enough for people to think about the opportunity.

Officer Reports Nate Adams, President and Field Coordinator gave an oral report. Most rosters secured and filed. Passes submitted. Some teams with additional players. PCA went very well and Tom Graupmann very interested in bringing in other clubs. Some teams still looking for coaches. Equipment will be given to teams by end of week. Fields to be ready by end of week. Further production to MYSA new policies. Hope to vote by next board meeting.
Dave Wieber, Vice President and JJSO Co-Coordinator, gave an oral report. Getting food vendors for ready for JJ Tournament in June. Still looking for t-shirt vendor. Need to get design together and approved. Need to order more staff shirts. Tom Brice, Treasurer, gave an oral report. Got some checks from…. Got an extension until May 15 to register with the Attorney General’s Office. Should be up to date financially once that is finished. Denis is doing a great job with communication. Getting scholarships worked out. VIII.
Coordinator/Committee Reports Brent Kivell, Referee Coordinator, gave oral report. Sent email to all referees in system to introduce self and get a sense of who will be returning. Has 2 referees lined up for the JJ tournament. Referee training will be April 23. Mentions of coordinating on-field or scrimmage training for new referee trainees- possibly occurring Saturday April 30.
IX.
Open Issues a) Positive Coaching Alliance update- Very positive reaction from coaches meeting. Tom Graupmann sent request for parents to attend from other clubs in late summer. b) Uniforms- are still in process. Took longer to get completed. Should have uniforms week or weekend before first set of games. NSA does not have uniform parts but extra parts are at Planet Soccer.

Adjournment Nate Adams motioned to adjourn the meeting. Tom Brice seconded the motion. Motion approved. Nate Adams adjourned the meeting at 9:35 p.m. Next meeting is scheduled for 5/9/16, 7:00 pm.
