second round of the NCAA DIII National Tournament.

We competed tough in two scrimmages against two very good teams and I think learned a lot about who we are as team. We were informed that the league coaches voted us to finish 9th out of 10 teams and although we didn’t need any additional motivation,

The next day (Nov 19) the Pacers will face either Drew University (11-14/8-8 Landmark) or Hunter College (323/3-13 CUNY). The Pacers will take the floor at either 2pm or 6pm depending on the outcome of Friday

TIP-OFF DINNER RECAP On Saturday, November 5, the Marywood Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams held their Annual Tip-Off Dinner at the Regal Room in Olyphant, PA. We were proud to have Marywood Communication Arts Alum, Dan Tortora ’07, as our Keynote Speaker. Mr. Tortora is the owner and operator of the broadcast program "Wake-Up Call with Dan Tortora". Dan created MU Courtside beginning in his freshman year (2003) to broadcast our men’s and women’s basketball games and spoke about his career path and specifically how Marywood University helped to direct and support that path. You can listen to Dan’s full speech here: Dan Tortora’s Keynote Speech Dan was gracious enough to invite our basketball coaches to come on his show and discuss the dinner event and Marywood Hoops in general: Coach Macciocco and Coach Mastroianni on Wake-Up Call with Dan Tortora

PLAYER SPOTLIGHTS Jeremy RIngland, Bangor Area HS and Michael Rotell, Valley View HS return to the Pacers after sitting out the 2015-2016 season. As freshman in 2014-2015 both saw significant action and made major contributions to a team that won 14 games Jeremy Ringland, Bangor, PA, 6'8", Junior, Forward returns for the 2016-17 season after a year away from the team. As a Freshman (2014-15) Jeremy was on the CSAC Academic Honor Roll, played in all 25 games, making 13 starts, and logged 469 minutes on the court averaging 8.2 points per game. Ringland hit 31 three pointers while grabbing 89 rebounds and dishing out 29 assists. He also led the team with 44 blocked shots. Ringland's return provides help protecting the rim as he averaged 1.8 blocks per game as a Freshman. At Bangor Area High School Ringland was a two-time First Team All-Colonial League selection. Allentown Morning Call First Team All-Area. Easton Express Times First Team All-Area. VIA All-Star. VIA All-Star Team of the Year (top five players by position of the VIA All-Star). Jeremy Ringland returns to the Pacers looking to pick up where he left off as a freshman.

He's the son of Kelly and Debbie Ringland, majoring in Bio-technology.

Mike Rotell, Archbald, PA, 6'4", Junior, Forward from nearby Valley View High School makes his return to the Marywood Basketball program after a year away from the team. As a Freshman (2014-15) Mike was on the CSAC Academic Honor Roll, played in all 25 games, making 20 starts, logging 470 minutes, averaging almost 19 minutes per game. Rotell hit 53.5% of his shots from the floor (54-101) for 6.1 points per game. He also grabbed 89 rebounds while tallying 28 assists. He's the son of Michael and Mary Clare Rotell, majoring in Accounting.

Michael Rotell will be counted on as a veteran leader within the group and provides great experience for a young squad.

Coach Mastroianni is very excited to have these two Pacers back on the court: “I’m really looking forward to coaching

Mike and Jeremy. They bring experience and add depth to our roster, especially in areas I thought we needed to see major improvements this season in order to compete. I expect that they will return to form very soon and help us compete on another level!”
