Parents Evening Parents Evening will be held on Wednesday 16th March from 3:30pm until 8pm. Letters have been distributed this week, so appointments can be made from the 7th of March. Years 3,4 and 5 parents/carers can make appointments on the playground after school from the 7th March Year 6 parents/carers will receive a letter to complete and return to their child’s class teacher.

Yr 4 Eastbury Manor House Visit Black Oak & Banyan: Tuesday 8th March Beech & Bayberry: Wednesday 9th March Transport is free but a voluntary contribution of £5.75 is required which covers the planned workshops on Tudor Kinds and Queens throughout the ages. Itinerary Leaving school at 9:15am - take public transport to Eastbury Manor House - return to school by 3pm. Children should wear full school uniform with comfortable lace up shoes or trainers. Pupils will also need to bring a packed lunch for this trip in a disposable carrier bag. If your child is entitled to Free School Meals and requires a packed lunch, please complete the relevant section on the consent form.

Lateness We will be closely monitoring lateness to school. If your child/children has two or more late marks in one week, you will be sent a letter at the end of the week. If their lateness does not improve you will be asked to attend a meeting with the attendance officer and a senior member of staff. 8:40am children lining up in the playground. 8:45am children in class. 8:50am gates closed/lessons begin promptly. 8:50am any pupils arriving after this time will be marked as late.

Easter Celebrations On Wednesday 23rd March DBJA will be holding 2 special events to help us celebrate Easter. The Easter Bonnet Parade: This will take place during school time. The children will be able to show their handmade t-shirts and bonnets to the other children in school. (Children are to wear their school uniform on this day and will change for the parade) There will be a special Easter prize for the winner! Easter Egg Quiz and Hunt: This will be on the playground after school and will cost £1. All children who participate will receive a chocolate egg!

Yr 6 Greek Day - Friday 18th March Year 6 will be participating in an Ancient Greek Day this term, there is no cost for this event. The day will involve a range of activities, delivered by class teachers to give a better understanding of Greek History. This is to enrich their learning and experience what it is was like in Ancient Greece. Your child has the option to dress accordingly to the theme. If they do not wish to dress up then they must wear their school uniform on this day. For more information on costume ideas please refer to the letter or speak to your child’s class teacher.

Sport Relief ‘Run a Mile’ On Friday 18th March DBJA will be participating in a mile run to help raise awareness for Sport Relief. Please see timetable for the days events.

Yr 4 Trip to Tesco’s, Goodmayes As part of a healthy eating school and our healthy eating week last term, the children have the opportunity to go to Tesco’s and learn about different food produce and its origins. (for class dates please see ’forthcoming events’) Each class will be leaving at 9am and will travel to Tesco’s via bus. They will return to school just after lunchtime so pupils must bring a packed lunch to eat on arrival back to school. If your child is entitled to Free School Meals and requires a packed lunch, please complete the relevant section on the consent form. Please complete and return the consent form by Thursday 10th March indicating any food allergies or restrictions your child may have.

Stubbers - Deadline Approaching Parents and carers please note that the official payment deadline for your child to attend Stubbers is Friday 11th March. You can make any payments via your ParentPay account online or at a PayPoint shop. If you no longer require the place then please notify the school office ASAP as you may lose more than your deposit if you cancel near the deadline.

Student Update Forms Parents and carers it is vital that we have the correct information on your child’s record. In case of an emergency we need to ensure we have correct telephone numbers and contact details.

If you update your mobile number, move to a different house or would like to add more contacts onto your child’s records then please come to the school office.

Year 6 ‘Greece Lightening/Rule Britannia’ - Greek Day in school: 18th March School Journey - 16th May until 18th May Further details of the school trips will be released nearer the date.

It is also vital that we are updated on any new medical conditions. These need to be added onto your child’s records.

Yr 4 Swimming Lessons Bayberry: 1/3/16 until 19/4/16 Banyan: 26/4/16 until 7/6/16 Beech: 14/6/16 until 12/7/16 The swimming lessons will be taking place at Becontree Leisure Centre. Your child will receive a swimming letter with more information and a consent form nearer the date of their lessons.
