Pastor’s Passage

Yup. Let’s start inviting people to come by. Most folks need a place to go for Christmas - how about getting them familiar By the time you receive this the Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat with us before then? We have a great message to share… not because we are high falutin’ with our speech, but bewill have already happened. Half of our Autumn outreach is cause the Word is sharper than any two-edged sword in exdone. Two more events (the Family Movie Night on Nov 7th, istence today. Invite them to come hear the hope of Jesus. and Friend Day on Nov 8th) are about to be underway. My Friend day is an excellent time to reach out and invite peoprayer is that you have participated so fully in these activities, ple. We’re going to collect info at Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat and invited those in your sphere of influence to come have to invite them. We need you to do your part, and here it is: some fun with your church family, that you feel the personal Each person who attends our church needs to find one perownership of all of the events. Remember - Church is not a son….Yes, only one person to bring to church on November building, it’s the people. YOU are the people, therefore YOU 8th. If you have more, fantastic. If you can’t find one…then are the Church at Thaxton Baptist. Righteous pride is a good you need to come to my Apollos class in January to learn thing. Being proud of your family for reaching out with God’s love in the form of the Gospel is good. Inviting people to hear a how. :) I know you can do this. Yes, it may be a stretch for some…but it’s just one. One person who can hear the only Biblical message on Sunday so the Holy Spirit can move in message that saves. I guarantee it, I’ll be preaching it from them is good. Being so proud of your Church that you can’t help but say to everyone you come in contact with, “You ought the pulpit on the 8th. Bring them…just that one, and see what to come by and hear what we’re about. What are you doing this God can do. Sunday? I’ll meet you in the parking lot (not inside) at 10:15. Do In His service, you know where we are? 460 and Penicks Mill Rd. See you Pastor Mark there.” Since ‘64

We soon learned that the temperatures of it as possibly being a bit of an exciting challenge for Paul to go into regions that seldom rose above eighty degrees during the day and never would drop below were unknown by his contemporaries. Can you imagine telling someone about Christ freezing. This made for ideal growing conditions for the many farms prevalent who had never heard of him and seeing their eyes light up as the Holy Spirit begins through out the area. Farmers would plant crops high up on the slopes of the working in their life. Looking back to Romans 15:20 the last part of the verse mentions not building on someone else's foundation. Being a construction/evan-gelical team it was exciting to go to the work site and lay the very first bricks on the seminary that we were to work on and then to go to different churches where each of us could give our testimony and even have the opportunity to deliver the message at times. Worshiping with our fellow believers in their homeland and in a language that is mostly unfamiliar to us, and hearing favorite hymns being sung in that same language always brings a special joy. We had arrived in Chota late in the evening just as the sun had gone down and darkness was closing in. The elevation of Chota was a little over eight thousand

We Give Thanks

Our Father in Heaven, We give thanks for the pleasure Of gathering together for this occasion. We give thanks for this food Prepared by loving hands. We give thanks for life, The freedom to enjoy it all And all other blessings. As we partake of this food, We pray for health and strength To carry on and try to live as You would have us. This we ask in the name of Christ, Our Heavenly Father. --Harry Jewell
