It  is  time  for  a  new  schedule  already!    My  how  time  flies  when  you  are  having  fun.    We  have  many  fun   quilt  classes  and  project  classes  that  we  hope  you  will  enjoy.    Below  are  the  descriptions  of  the  classes.     Remember  that  you  can  visit  the  shop  to  see  the  class  samples  or  visit  the  website  to  see  photos  of  the   samples.     We  have  all  sorts  of  new  fabrics  arriving  daily.    Winter  Wonderland  by  Bunny  Hill  Designs  arrived  last   week.    If  you  have  been  dreaming  of  starting  a  red  work  project,  this  is  the  fabric  for  you.    We  will  be   kitting  up  this  fabric  for  the  pattern  “Christmas  Wheels”.    New  Jo  Morton  and  Molly  B.    Reproduction   fabrics  just  arrived    -­‐  “gorgeous”  is  all  I  have  to  say  about  that!    Christmas  and  Halloween  fabrics  will   begin  arriving  this  month  and  next  month.    These  lines  move  quickly  out  of  the  shop,  so  don’t  put  off   your  Christmas  projects  until  the  last  minute  or  the  best  fabrics  will  be  gone.     We  have  added  some  extra  project  classes  in  July  to  get  you  started  on  your  Christmas  gift  making.    As   we  find  more  fun  projects  we  will  continue  to  add  to  the  list.     We  invite  you  to  come  join  the  fun  at  Fabric  Garden,     Jill,  Carol,  Carolyn,  Julie,  Linda,  Pam,  and  Sharin

Beginning Embroidery Many quilt patterns are now using hand embroidery in the designs. If you have never tried hand embroidery or have been away from it for years, this class will get you going. During this three week class, you will not only learn all the basic stitches, you will learn about preparing your fabrics, stabilizing your fabrics and about using various types of floss and perle cottons. Beginning Machine Quilting Veronica is going to teach you the basics of how to quilt with your sewing machine. The class will take the stress out of Beginning Machine Quilting. Bring your machine, take a breath and let's have fun! Veronica is well known on the west coast and quilts for many designers. She comes to us from the Mt. Beginning Needle Turn Applique Jill will take you through the basics of this classic technique while you make a small wall hanging. Learn how to prepare your pieces, how to turn points and inner points, how to make beautiful circles and curves and how to make vines. Dinner in the Garden What could be better than an evening of sewing and dinner that you didn’t have to cook or clean up? Join us for an enjoyable evening of sewing, dinner, dessert and prizes. Double Mitered Binding The method of using one long binding strip and flipping at each corner often gives a less than wonderful looking corner. The double mitered binding technique will give you beautiful corners every time. Instructor: Carol Ann Santarosa Tuesday, May 6, June 3, July 1, August 5 11 am to 1 pm $15.00

Fallen Leaf (Table runner and Place Mats) Grab a Bali Pop or Jelly Roll and let’s start sewing! If you are a quilter who runs from the dreaded “A” word (applique)…come on back! In this class you will learn how easy it is to turn raw edges under with fusible interfacing. Then, we simply fuse the leave in place and stitch them on by machine. “Fallen Leaf” makes a 54” x 18” table runner and six 12” x 18” place mats. There is enough fabric in the Bali Pop or Jelly Roll for all of the colorful piecing, leaves, AND bindings. Instructor: Marcia Harmening Marcia is the owner and designer of Happy Stash Quilts. Learn to Quilt A basic beginning quilts class for those wanting to learn how to quilt. A quilt top will be made in this six-week program. The beginner will learn what notions and tools are needed, the names of quilt blocks, quilting terminology, how to cut and piece fabric accurately, how to use rulers, a rotary cutter, etc. It is everything you wanted to know about quilting and were afraid to ask. Let’s Get Past Stippling There is life after stippling. Veronica will show you the ease of free motion vines, swirls, flowers, stars, feathers and more with her no mark method of machine quilting. Painless, Pinless, Perfectly Pieced Circles Did you know that you can piece a perfect circle in six minutes without pins? This method is simple enough for beginners and opens up endless possibilities for the experienced quilter as well. Pockets to Go Need a place to keep your sewing supplies or know a student who needs to organize their school supplies? We'll be making organizers that are handy just about anywhere. We will make the cube shaped organizer in class, but the pattern also includes a rectangle-shaped one that is great for inside a purse or tote bag. Both sizes are made with PelTex so they will hold their shape well. The have several interior pockets to keep small items handy and two exterior zippered pockets which will be a snap to put in because Atkinson Designs has a groovy zipper technique. CLUBS 30’s Club Calling all lover’s of 30’s fabrics. This club is for you! This club is a place for lovers of 30's fabric to come together and sew projects using their favorite fabric. There will be "Show and Tell" of our love affair with our fabric and the sharing of ideas and patterns. Each meeting will feature a block that can be made. For those who are interested in being 30's angels, baby quilts will be made from 30's fabrics and donated to local charities. Charm School Breakfast Club Charm Packs are so much fun! Forty-two wonderful squares of fabric to enjoy. Every other month we will make a cute small quilt from the book “Country Threads Goes to Charm School”. These quilts use a variety of techniques, one charm pack, and small amounts of background fabric. It is easy to enlarge these patterns just by using more charm squares. Jo’s Little Women’s Club 2014

This is the Jo Morton’s 13th Jo’s Little Women’s Club. Each time she has nine wonderful patterns for small quilts. Table Runner Breakfast Club Every other month you will make a fun table runner. Stitch Zakka Social Club Zakka is a Japanese word for “many things”. It has become a fashion and design phenomenon from Japan to Asia to the United States. Zakka refers to anything that is graceful, functional and sewn and improves our home, life and appearance. Twenty-two designers have contributed to the book Stitch Zakka with their ideas. We will be making these great projects, one a month, working our way through this fabulous stitching book. Kits will be available for your convenience. We Gather Together (Primitive Applique) Primitive applique at it's best! This club is for everyone who loves primitive applique. This year the group will be working on Jan Patek’s “Christmas 101” and/or Minick & Simpson’s “Victory Girls”. This group encourages creativity, so you are welcome to pick your own project. There is lots of sharing of projects, ideas and techniques. All levels are welcome. You can join at any time. Felted wool is wonderful to work with! It feels great, it is easy to work with and the projects have a wonderful richness to them. In this club, you have the choice of two different monthly wool projects to work on. We share project ideas with each other, discuss techniques for working with wool and enjoy the company of others who share our passions. All Blocks of the month are available to be shipped directly to your home or to be picked up in our shop. Follow Bertie's adventures through the year in this FUN Block of the Month from Bonnie Sullivan. Every month starting in September you will receive a pattern and the Woolies Flannel / Shadow Play Flannel to create a little quilt that measures 13" x 17". The kit also contains the binding and backing. Button and floss kits will be available for an additional charge.

Kids are Quilting

What are Woolies Flannels?? They look like wool, feel soft like wool, wash like cotton, but won't make you itch like wool can. Woolies flannels come in classic designs like herringbones, plaids, tweeds and dots in rich colors.

KIDS CLASSES

BLOCKS OF THE MONTH All Stitched Up All Blocks of the month are available to be shipped directly to your home or to be picked up in our shop. This is a new block of the month by Kathy Schmitz. There are twelve tablemats. Each contains a pieced quilt block and seasonal embroidery. Your kits will contain the fabrics to make each tablemat. You may also sign up to receive a supplemental quilt block kit. That will enable you to make the block twice; once for the tablemat and once for a quilt. We will provide a quilt setting pattern or you can challenge yourself to create your very own setting. Each month you will also receive a bookmark that matches the tablemat. You will also receive a custom lapel pin designed by Kathy Schmitz. Day Dream – Michael Miller Clubhouse 2014 All Blocks of the month are available to be shipped directly to your home or to be picked up in our shop. Surround yourself with soft, relaxing hues. House Warming Party All Blocks of the month are available to be shipped directly to your home or to be picked up in our shop.

If  you  see  a  class  you  are  interested  in,   please  sign  up  early!  Classes  have  a   minimum  number  of  students  in  order  for  it   to  “go”.  By  waiting  too  long,  your  class  may   be  filled  or  you  may  have  been  the  one   person  needed  to  meet  the  minimum   enrollment.

This is a six-month block of the month featuring the beautiful “Home for the Holidays” fabrics by Faye Burgos. The pattern is from Bloom Creek. The quilt features a center medallion with birdhouses and birds surrounded by pieced blocks. The colors are perfect for Christmas, but the prints are such that this quilt can be used year round. Registration Fee: $24.95 Kit Fee: $29.00 per month for six months

EVENTS Fifth Saturday of the Month “Backing Sale” Bring in your finished quilt top and purchase the backing fabric for that top at 20% off.
