Ready for Retrofit breakfast: EWI explained Venue: Genesis, Somerset College, Taunton Date and time: 0730 - 0930, Wednesday 20th February Cost: Free (funded by the Ready for Retrofit programme)
The external wall insulation market is set for rapid growth through the government focus on funding solid wall insulation solutions and the rising cost of heating. This event is designed to quickly give you an idea of the market, technical overview of the process, pro’s and con’s, and a live demonstration. The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) provides £1.3b of funding per year for a range of energy efficiency measures but a large part will focus on solid wall insulation. The government want to see a four-old increase in SWI installations reaching 120,000 per year by 2015 and currently there are not enough applicators to deal with this increase. Other initiatives will also stimulate the EWI market including the £2.8m Bristol Home Energy Upgrade programme and the domestic RHI. EWI brings together many general building skills but there are intricacies to the design process and application needs to follow strict warranty guidelines to ensure eligibility for government backed schemes. The event is funded by the Ready for Retrofit programme which is supporting growth in the energy efficiency refurb sector. Eligible SMEs can access fully-funded business support which could be used to assist diversification into the EWI market as well as a development voucher of £500. Come along and find out how your business could take advantage of this opportunity. Speakers: Rick Walker, general manager, SAS (Europe) Ltd - the south west EWI manufacturer Keith Dicken, Principle, Keith Dicken Associates – award finalist RIBA chartered practice Alastair Mumford, business support manager, Regen SW – part of the Ready for Retrofit team The event is organised by Regen SW as part of its Ready for Retrofit programme and supported by Knowledge Exchange at Genesis, Chartered Institute of Building, Federation of Master Builders and RIBA.
