What connotations does the word “hallelujah” have for you? In what contexts is it usually used? Read v1-3—Why is God being praised in these verses? Imagine the day when God finally purges the world of all sin, evil and brokenness. What are you most looking forward to God eradicating? Is it possible for people to genuinely say ‘hallelujah’ in the midst of suffering, in a way that is not superficial? Share a struggle that you are going through at the moment. What hope do these verses give you? What kind of praise can you offer God in the midst of your difficulty? Read v5-9. What is it about this wedding of the Lamb that should fill us with hope? Read Isaiah 61:10—How do you feel knowing that you are already clothed in garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness? How can that image help us on our worst days? Read v10. The phrase “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” means that the essence of biblical prophecy is to witness to Jesus. How is Jesus the centre of prophecy in the Bible? How does this understanding of prophecy help your understanding of Revelation? What part of this chapter most encourages you to say hallelujah?
