Question from Stefanie Carlisle (McCownGordon Construction, LLC) at 10:48 AM on 07/27/2016 Reference: A601K&M, and the attached picture Please reference the exterior soffits for areas K & M, shown on A601K&M. These soffits are true EIFS soffits over EPS board and not the direct applied system the rest of the soffits were changed to due to the conflict with the c-channels. The can lights shown to go into these soffits will not work due to several reasons: 1) depth of the housing, 2) the possibility of melting the foam being recessed in the system, and 3) the width of the trim ring. There are two possible solutions: • Change the light fixtures to be compatible with the EIFS system • Build boxes out of sheathing around the lights and direct apply EIFS around them, butting the EPS foam on all sides. With this option, however, there could be possible cracking issues or discoloration issues down the road. There is also the concern of how hot the light fixtures get. EPS can start to deform at 176 degrees Fahrenheit. Please see attached drawing of a possible solution. Please advise. Attachments: RFI 888.PNG

HEI Response: Please change the fixture type to 4" downlight cylinder, Gotham Incito (see attached), surface mounted on contractor provided junction box. Finish selected by architect. Fixtures labeled DL1E shall be provided with Bodine (or equal) mini inverter supplying minimum of 90min battery backup for the fixture and coordinated with fixture LEDs.
