Offense Alyssa Lopez New Mexico Highlands Junior, Guard, 5-8 El Paso, Texas Lopez led New Mexico Highlands offensively to two home wins over Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines this past weekend. She netted 24 points in each game and finished the weekend shooting 53.6 percent from the floor (15-of-28), 71.4 percent from long range (5-of-8), and 76.5 percent from the charity stripe. She also pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out three assists in the Cowgirls opening weekend of conference play.
Defense Abby Kirchoff UC-Colorado Springs Sophomore, Guard, 5-11 Barrington, Ill. Kirchoff led the Mountain Lions to two home wins this weekend against Fort Lewis and Adams State. In a five point win against the defending RMAC tournament champions Fort Lewis, Kirchoff had game-highs of seven total rebounds, six defensive rebounds and six steals. She also added a game-high of 25 points in that game. In the two wins, Kirchoff averaged 4.5 defensive rebounds and 3.5 steals

Adams State University (3-3, 0-2 RMAC) Offense: Kelly Hernandez (Junior, Post, 6-0, Sparks, Nev./Feather River College/Spanish Springs HS) Hernandez came off the bench in both of ASU’s games to record her two best games of her young Grizzly career. Averaging 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the field during the weekend, Hernandez scored 11 points in Friday’s game at CSU-Pueblo. She then scored a career-high 17 points while grabbing eight rebounds on Saturday against UC-Colorado Springs. She played aggressively in that game getting to the line 11 times (nine made FT’s). Defense: Marissa Peterson (Junior, Guard, 5-8, Santa Fe, N.M./St. Michael’s HS) Peterson grabbed 13 total rebounds, including 10 at the defensive end, to lead the Grizzlies in two RMAC games. She also averaged 11.5 points and 2.5 assists while shooting 52.6 percent from the field offensively. Against CSU-Pueblo, she had seven rebounds (6 defensive). She then tallied six rebounds (4 defensive) and a steal on Saturday at UC-Colorado Springs. Team Notes: The Grizzlies dropped their first two RMAC games of the year and have now fallen in eight straight RMAC games dating back to last season. They have lost 10 straight RMAC road games. Grizzly Coach Kelly Kruger has 414 career wins in his 26 years as a head coach to rank 17th amongst active and 40th amongst all NCAA Division II head coaches. The 414 wins are the most of any active RMAC coach. Kruger has claimed 90 of his wins in his time with the Grizzlies (7th Year) and is 90-87 in his career with the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies will play at Fort Lewis this coming Saturday. The Grizzlies have dropped 10 straight regular-season games against the Skyhawks, who have been ranked amongst the nation’s top 10 at the time of each of the last 10 meetings.
Black Hills State University (2-4, 1-1 RMAC) Offense: Calli Bechtel (Junior, Forward, 6-1, Rapid City, S.D.) In BHSU’s win over Western State, Bechtel scored 13 points and was 3-of-4 from behind the arc. In the Yellow Jackets loss to Colorado Mesa, Bechtal filled-up the stats sheet with six rebounds, five assists and a team-high 10 points. In conference play, she is averaging 11.5 points and is shooting 60 percent from three-point range. Defense: Cassidy Kotelman (Sophomore, Forward, 5-10, Brookings, S.D.) Kotelman had five rebounds and three steals in BHSU’s win over Western State. In BHSU’s loss to Colorado Mesa, Kotelman had a team-high seven rebounds. She is averaging six rebounds per game in conference play. Team Notes: Black Hills State had three players score double digits in BHSU’s first ever RMAC victory over Western State 65-50 on Friday night. On Saturday, Black Hills State hung with Colorado Mesa for the first 12 minutes of play, but eventually fell 48-77.
Chadron State College (1-4, 1-1 RMAC) Team Notes: Chadron State lost at home to Colorado Mesa Friday night, 87-43, before defeating Western State the following night, 7870. The Eagles will face Colorado Mines and Colorado Christian on the road this Friday and Saturday.
Colorado Christian University (4-2, 1-1 RMAC) Team Notes: Colorado Christian split on the road this past weekend in their first games of the conference season. CCU lost Friday night to New Mexico Highlands, 87-83, before defeating Western New Mexico 92-63. CCU will host Black Hills State and Chadron State this weekend. Colorado Mesa University (6-0, 2-0 RMAC) Offense: Kelsey Sigl (Senior, Forward, 6-0, Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck State) Sigl averaged 17 points per game in the Mavs opening weekend of league action. She led all players with 17 points in CMU’s 87-43 win at Chadron State. Sigl had one assist, one steal and hit 7-of-13 from the floor in 21 minutes of action. She was 1-of-1 in three point field goals and 2-of-2 from the foul line. In the Mavs 77-48 win at Black Hills State, Sigl finished with 17 points, one assist, one steal and three rebounds in the victory. She shot 58.3 percent for the weekend and averaged 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. On the year Sigl is leading the team averaging 15.5 points per game and shooting .629 percent from the floor. She is second on the team averaging 6.3 rebounds per game and 10 steals. Defense: Bruna Deichmann (Senior, Guard, 5-9, Balneario-Camboriu, Brazil/Alaska-Anchorage) Deichmann led the team in rebounds per game in CMU’s back-to-back wins in the opening weekend of RMAC action. In the Mavs’ 87-43 win at Chadron State, she led all players with seven rebounds, had one steal and one assist while scoring 15 points in 24 minutes of action off the bench. Against Black Hills State in a 77-48 victory the following night, she started her first game as a Maverick and answered with a game high (tied) seven rebounds, had one steal, three assists and hit double digits for the second consecutive night (13 points), including 6-of-6 from the foul line. Deichmann played 20 minutes in the contest. In the two road games she averaged 7.0 rebounds, 14 points, 1.0 steals and two assists, while averaging 22.0 minutes per game. On the year, Deichmann is averaging 5.7 rebounds per game, 11.2 points per game. She has played in all six games with one start. Team Notes: CMU is 6-0 on the year and 2-0 in league action. CMU has a +33.2 scoring margin and +12.7 rebound margin. The Mavs are averaging 10.2 steals, 2.7 blocks and have a +5.7 turnover margin. CMU has out-scored their opponents 470-271 in six games. CMU is 2-0 at home, 2-0 on the road, and 2-0 at neutral site. CMU has won all six games by double digits. Four players are averaging double digits; Kelsy Sigl (15.5), Katrina Selsor (13.5), Sharaya Selsor (12.3) and Bruna Deichmann (11.2). CMU will host Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands this weekend.

Colorado School of Mines (4-4, 1-1 RMAC) Offense: Angie Charchalis (Senior, Guard, 5-5, Craig, Colo./Moffat County HS) Charchalis led Mines in scoring in both games this past weekend, finishing with a game-high 23 points and a career-high tying six three-pointers in Friday’s 70-53 RMAC-opener win at Western New Mexico. The senior guard also added a team-best 19 points Saturday at N.M. Highlands for her third straight game in double figures and seventh this season. With 21.0 points per game on 15-of-28 (53.6 percent) shooting for the weekend, including 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) from behind the arc, Charchalis moved atop the RMAC in scoring at 18.5 points per game and three-pointers made with 26, an average of 3.3 per contest. Defense: Tory Langas (Junior, Center, 6-0, Highlands Ranch, Colo./ThundeRidge HS) Langas pulled down a season-best nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end at WNMU on Friday and followed with a gamehigh eight boards Saturday at NMHU. The junior center was also one shy of her season-best with 17 points, going 5-of-8 and 7-of-8 on free throws against the Cowgirls. Langas led the Orediggers with three blocks and four steals over the two games and finished the road trip 7-of-13 (53.8 percent) from the floor for 10.5 ppg, while collecting 8.5 rebounds and leading the team in minutes played at 32.5 per outing. Team Notes: The Orediggers opened RMAC play with a 1-1 mark on the road over the weekend, outdistancing themselves in the second half for a 70-53 win at Western New Mexico Friday, before succumbing to N.M. Highlands 84-82 in the final minutes on Saturday. Senior Angie Charchalis led four players in double figures, averaging 21.0 points per game over the games, while connecting on 15-of28 (53.6 percent) shots and 10-of-15 three-pointers. Sophomore Taylor Helbig finished with a 14.5 points per game average, including a season-high 18 versus the Cowgirls, while junior backcourt mates Allie Grazulis and Tory Langas each added 10.5 points per game on a combined 14-of-24 (58.3 percent) and controlled the paint with 35 rebounds and 9.0 and 8.5 rebounds per game, respectively. A weekend after shooting 29.3 percent as a team at the Regis Thanksgiving Classic, Mines shot 44.0 percent (51-of-116) and 47.1 percent (16-of-34) from distance in New Mexico, while posting a rebounding margin of 13.5 per game. After surpassing 80 points only three times in the previous two seasons, the women have already eclipsed the 80-point mark three times in eight games this year.
Colorado State University - Pueblo (5-1, 2-0 RMAC) Offense: Laurel Kearsley (Senior, Post, 6-0, Victor, Idaho/Southern Idaho) Kearsley recorded back-to-back double-doubles in leading CSU-Pueblo to wins over Adams State and Fort Lewis this past weekend at home. She led the Pack to its first regular season win over Fort Lewis since 2007. Kearsley averaged 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while dishing out four assists, grabbing two steals and one block. Defense: Laurel Kearsley (Senior, Post, 6-0, Victor, Idaho/Southern Idaho) Sixteen of Kearsley’s 20 rebounds this past weekend were on the defensive end as she helped the ThunderWolves defeat Adams State and Fort Lewis at home. She added two steals and a blocked shot in the first weekend of conference play. Kearsley finished the weekend with a double-double, recording 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
Fort Lewis College (1-5, 0-2 RMAC) Team Notes: Fort Lewis surrendered 70 points in each road loss this past weekend to UC-Colorado Springs (L, 70-65) and CSU-Pueblo (L, 70-55). The Skyhawks return home this Saturday to host Adams State in their only game of the week.
Metropolitan State University of Denver (2-4, 0-1 RMAC) Team Notes: Metro State suffered a 65-62 loss to open RMAC play on Saturday, losing a late lead as the Rangers outscored MSU 4-0 in the final 27 seconds. The Roadrunners, which led all of Division II in rebounding margin last season, were outrebounded 31-22 and allowed Regis to shoot 52.2 percent. Senior Emily Wood scored a career-high 17 points in the loss. The 22 rebounds were one away from the lowest single-game rebounding total in school history (21, vs. Fort Hays State, Feb. 2, 2006).
New Mexico Highlands University (2-4, 2-0 RMAC) Offense: Alyssa Lopez (Junior, Guard, 5-8, El Paso, Texas) RMAC/Baden Offensive Player of the Week Defense: Michelle Traynham (Freshman, Guard, 5-10, Belen, N.M.) In two home wins this past weekend to open league play, Traynham averaged 3.5 defensive rebounds and 2.0 steals as New Mexico Highlands defeated Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines. She also scored nine points and grabbed nine total rebounds on the weekend.

Regis University (2-3, 1-0 RMAC) Team Notes: Regis won their first conference game of the season, opening league play with a 65-62 win at Metro State Saturday night. RU will stay on the road this weekend to face CSU-Pueblo and UC-Colorado Springs.
University of Colorado Colorado Springs (4-1, 2-0 RMAC) Offense: Abby Kirchoff (Sophomore, Guard, Barrington, Ill.) Kirchoff led the UCCS Mountain Lions to consecutive home victories to start the conference season 2-0. Kirchoff averaged 14 points per game, shooting over 61.5 percent from the field and over 85.5 percent from downtown. She anchored the Mountain Lion offense to a 70-65 win against the defending RMAC tournament champions Fort Lewis. In the game, Kirchoff had a game high 25 points and seven rebounds.
